First bit of Series 7 news. I'll put it here for now but PRG or Chris might want to move it so its not mixed up with S6 stuff.

Anyway, John Fay who has just finished on Miracle Day stated on his CV that he is currently writing a new Who episode.

Weirdly enough so did I - could have sworn I saw it when I modified the title. Bizarre!  Huh?

Yea he wrote Day 4 and got a LOT of stick about it from Ianto's mob. He is doing an episode of Miracle Day too so it will be good to see how he carries that off as well. It's good to get another new name for DW though too

I think I have only ever seen his work on Day 4 of Torchwood and considering how much RTD likes a rewrite you have to wonder how much of that was actually his work.

Moff has stated at Comic Con that we will be getting the same amount of episodes next year after all, but they will be transmitted differently.

My guess would be that 'next year' means 'next series' and that it will split either side of Christmas, so technically next year, but not. It could be that the whole thing moves to the autumn? Definately not a Spring transmission though I would say. There was the rumour that it would go out for 7 weeks on a Saturday and Sunday too so you never know. At least we now know for certain that the 14 episode commissioned add up to just one series and a special, rather than the series taking a cut

Well at least Moff is working to put the fans at ease. The BBC seem to be on a wind up mission lately

I've just found some quotes from Moff at the French comic con, in regards to above:

"Contrary to what you may have heard, there will be the same number of episodes shown next year. There will be the same number of episodes. But its true that there will be a change in the mode of distribution. I would explain it all. Later."

Also, speaking of what the BBC have planned for the 50th, he said: "Their plans are very ambitious."

When quizzed about Rory he said: "He was really dead once. Dead Rory leads to something. There will be a pay-off."

And on River: "you do not know anything yet!"

So all that stuff from the guy at the BBC was rubbish? They really do seem to be all over the place lately.

See this is why I love coming here. Best place for all the info Smiley

I'm guessing based on what happened at the time, that Danny Cohen just said what he thought people would want to hear. Its not as though they seemed to have a big plan in place. Add to that a lot of what we thought was true was based on Lizo thinking he knows everything, when his 'BBC' source was obviously wrong.

From DS:

Miranda Hart has reportedly been stopped from taking on a role in Doctor Who.

The actress has been prevented from signing up for the drama because BBC One controller Danny Cohen wants her to focus on her sitcom Miranda, The Sun claims.

Doctor Who creator Steven Moffat allegedly offered Hart a "significant role" that she was hoping to accept.

"Miranda was thrilled to be asked to be on Doctor Who," a source claimed. "Steven offered her a decent role and she felt, as it was on the BBC, there would be no problem.

"But the BBC One controller let it be known that he wants her focused on her show, which he has nabbed from BBC Two. Miranda's gutted as she feels she could do both."

If this is true it is such a shame. I think she is great and would have been brilliant for Who

I read this in the paper this morning & couldn't quite believe it. I've heard of another channel/company stopping their stars taking part in things, but not being allowed to be in something on the same channel - seriously odd. I've never really been a fan of the practice anyway, though I understood it was something to do with contracts when it came to crossing channels.

As for the focusing on her own show - it's hardly like it's on all year round. I'm sure she would have plenty of time to do both. If this is true & Miranda really was up for it, it seems really unfair - not going to make the guy very popular with her either I wouldn't have thought.

Just to add to that The Sun wrapped up that article by speculating that this is yet another sign of trouble between Cohen & Moffat, citing all the previous stuff about next year's schedule as other examples.

Apologies if this question has been addressed elsewhere but I was just wondered if we had heard any more about the format of the show next year? With the writing (and subsequent production) of the Xmas special being that much later it seems obvious that there won't be a spring start for the show in 2012? A complete shift to Autumn 2012 seems equally as obvious but there is then the question of the Xmas special 2012 and the 50th Anniversary show to throw into the mix?

It's all a bit up in the air still. The original info we had was that it would be a full season, but not all shown in 2012, but then a few weeks back at one of those press thingys Moff said that it would all air next year but it would move to the autumn, but as yet nothing 'BBC Official' has been announced so it could go either way. When it was first mentioned about splitting the series for next year it was supposedly so that during anniversary year we would have the full series 8 as well as half of series 7, giving 19 episodes including Christmas during 2013, but meaning only 7 next year, though I think most of that was speculation. The short answer though is that we still don't know for sure

A tweet from a crewmember:

"Just brought in a canal boat for dr who this month, said this is where visit from an old dr will happen! Mmm who is that?"

He has deleted it now though....
