The British actor – out in Los Angeles to try make it as a star stateside – had a crowd of film makers and industry VIPs in stitches as he larked around on stage.
He was taking part in an event called the 24 Hour Plays with an array of Hollywood stars including Eva Mendes and Jenna Elfman.
Stars in the audience included Minnie Driver and her Foo Fighters drummer boyfriend Taylor Hawkins and funny man Jason Sudekis.
All the plays in the event are written the night before by various playwrights.
The actors then spend just one day rehearsing before performing it.
At the start of his play – called Gotham Autopsy – Smith was covered in a sheet in a mortuary before he came to life as a confused Batman. Comedian and Don't Mess With Zohan star Nick Swardson starred as Robin. Also in his play was Kick Ass star Lyndsy Fonseca and fellow Brit Saffron Burrows. Half-way through the 20 minute skit Smith dropped his fake American accent and became a cockney to huge laughs from the audience.
The 28-year-old's model girlfriend Daisy Lowe, 22, was in the crowd proudly watching on.
The pair then went on to the show's after party at a Santa Monica studio and after Smith charmed the press on the red carpet.
An onlooker said: "Matt and Daisy were having a great time, they properly did the rounds and talked to everyone. Matt was very affectionate with Daisy and constantly had his arm around her and she was just beaming. At one point they shared a few jokes with Adam Brody and his girlfriend. Everybody wanted to talk to them and they really seemed to love the attention they were getting."
In an interview two weeks ago Smith told how he was going to LA to "dip my head in the pond" adding: "I'm going to be having loads of meetings with film people and that sort of stuff".
While I genuinly wish him every deserved success, a tiny, selfish and very evil part of me sort of hopes it doesn't work out so we get to keep as the Doctor for longer

Good luck to him - he deserves to be really successful There is a teeny tiny part of me that feels the same way as Exterminate though!

You know, I think he would do really well at whatever he puts his mind too. He's such a talented guy and it wouldnt surprise me at all to see him make it big in the US.

Glad to hear that he is exploring his options and I would love to see him in some films. But I am in no way ready for him to stop being my Doctor

Fair play to him, the hints are there that he's not going to be the Doc after series 7, so I wish him well.
Just wish Tennant would make it huge too as he's really deserving.
Maybe he could land a part in Game of Thrones series 2, for starters?! In fact, cast them both! (I'm totally biased as I love that show!)
