Ok, many of you won't know, or will know but won't have seen, that a movie was made based on this story called The Dalek Invasion Of Earth 2150AD. It was on TV a couple of weeks ago so you may have seen it.

Anyway, for those of you who have seen both, which do you think is better?

I am going to go for the TV story. I thought the film was great and it was good to see it in colour, but for me some of the new characters and reimagined characters were just not quite up to standard, or they were, but I just like my originals too much.

I did see the film a couple of weeks ago & while, I do have to say that I preferred the much more detailed TV version, I still actually quite enjoyed it for what it is. The colour is great & I actually think they did a good job re-designing the Robomen.

I'm feeling like, having seen the film first, I've seen them the wrong way round though if that makes sense - I knew the story, but I didn't (I had similar feelings with the 2 versions of The Daleks but the other way round as I saw the TV serial first).

I do have a small, & perhaps unforgivable, confession to make as well - I think I prefer the film version of Susan (sorry!). Even though she's only a child in the films, I feel I relate to her better. She just seems slightly better put together as well. This isn't to say that I don't like the real Susan, because I do. I'm just odd!

Anyway my vote here goes to the TV series  Smiley

Peter Cushing + Really Cool Daleks + Bernard Cribbins + Sugar Puffs = Gotta be the Movie!

TV story for me. Just because I saw it first and the original is always the best

I love both versions. I rewatched the movie a little while ago for the first time in years and was really impressed by it. They manage to get all the main plot-points in without it ever feeling rushed, Peter Cushing makes a superb Dr Who (as he really is called in this!) and there are some great comic scenes with Bernard Cribbins. And I've always been rather fond of Sugar Puffs.
Overall though I prefer the tv version. I love the leisurely way the story develops, and the way that they really flesh out the supporting characters. The movie only had time to sketch them, in the tv version we get the full portraits.

Definitely the TV version.  I liked Peter Cushing's Doctor, but I felt both films were a bit dumbed-down, though this one was a lot better than the first (partly because Bernard Cribbens was far better than Roy Castle).

I went with the TV story. I found it too jarring watching other people in the roles so while it was good, I just prefer the original

Has to be the TV story. I didn't like the guy playing the Doctor very much in the film

I really love both, but I think Dame Roger summed up really well why the TV story wins out and if I only could watch one again, it would be the TV story I went for

The TV story, imo, is far better. I like the movie but it isnt a patch on the TV story

I went with the movie. The main reason for that was while I pretty much like them equally, the pacing of the movie was better and it had Bernard Cribbins in it, which is a big win Tongue

I've said a lot about this story already but I just gotta say few more things: The film is still entertaining after all these years and proves that the original isn't always the best. Actually, the only other example I can find of this is Coraline, where the movie is better than Neil Gaiman's book (Neil also wrote The Doctor's Wife). Also...GRAND MOFF TARKIN IS THE DOCTOR! (Peter Cushing also played that evil agent of the Galactic Empire, in A New Hope)
