I have opened this poll and thread because we are collecting data in order to rank stories. Please could you take a minute and rate this story? You do not need to give a reason for your vote, though obviously feel free to do so as it is a good way of initiating discussions

I really enjoyed this story - I thought DT arrived with a Bang and RTD nicely captured the spirit of "losing" the Doctor and then regaining him I gave it 4

I have always seriously disliked this story so I only gave it a one. I thought it was a bad intro for ten, I really didn't like the Sycorax and I think for a 'special', it wasn't very special. Harriet Jones saved it from total disaster for me, but that was more her dialogue than her character as I think she was slightly spoiled in this too.
I hate being negative about stories, but I really ain't keen on this.

I think it is a bit of a marmite story tbf - i know people who cringe at the mention of it.

The only Christmas story I dislike more is The Next Doctor. That's possibly one of my most disliked stories ever

I always think Xmas stories must be quite difficult to write (and more than that difficult to make interesting and novel) I'm quite disposed to them but I know what you mean about the next Doctor - that was a very weak story

I went with a 2. I think it might be unfair to compare this to a standard episode as it was made as a Christmas special which usually follows a different formula and it also had the trouble of introducing a new Doctor, so comparing it to other Christmas specials I have to say this is probably one of the weakest. I read that this was a bit of a last minute commission so I guess they didn't have a lot of time to develop the story and after the issues with Series 1 I can understand why it perhaps didn't come off as well as it could have, but personally it's not a favourite of mine. How long winded was that!

It may not have been, I could have just been reading a rumour, but what I read was that the BBC didnt commision the Christmas special until well after filming was wrapped and the original plan was to introduce Ten in ep1 of S2. Again though, that could have been just a rumour

I went with a three. This certainly isn't a great story, but it is nowhere near the worst. I have to admit, based on this story alone when it aired I hated Tennant. He just seemed all wrong. I wasn't keen on how mean he was to Harriot, and I didn't like the Sycorax. Jackie was a particular highlight throughout as the comic relief and the crazy Santas were a nice touch because the took whats normally safe and mundane and spun it on its head and made it scary.

I came to DW with The Eleventh Hour and got hooked. All I heard about when I said I was going to go back to watch the older series was about how brilliant Tennant was, so when it came to this episode I was expecting the works but I really didn't like it and I haven felt any better about it on rewatch. Perhaps it was my expectations or perhaps it just really isn't a great story, but either way I went with a 2

I gave this full marks. Like 'Rose', the story wasn't brilliant but it's main goal was to introduce Tennant as the Doctor in an easy to chew story that would endear the fans to him, and in that respect I think it very much worked. There are a few things I wasn't so keen on, but on the whole an enjoyable enough story I thought

I can't remember now thinking back if this episode was the first one I saw or if it was after New Earth, at the time I really really liked it as it was one of the first episodes I'd seen, but at the same time if I watch it back again now I think to myself: This used to be my favourite episode?! But I'm going to give it a 4.

I gave this one a three too. As a story it's ok I guess but as a Christmas Special it really doesn't work for me. I found Tennant quite annoying throughout and I didn't like any of the stuff on the Sycorax spaceship, but a lot of the rest was ok

3 from me. It did what it had to do (introduce the new Doctor) well enough, and Harriet Jones would always get my vote, but it was fairly unmemorable and certainly isn't one that I'm tempted to rewatch all that often.

I gave this a 4. I never took it as anything super serious. I'm pretty sure this was just supposed to a story in all good fun- and for me it was. I mean nobody would take that spinning Christmas tree seriously and you can tell the show didn't want us to either.
