Doctor Who Figures (New Series)

Well not strictly at Christmas, but in the next few months leading up to it, there will be a number of new releases. I will add them here as I find out about them, then give them new threads when we have more details on each.

- An Idris figure.
- A bearded Doctor with straight jacket figure
- A new TARDIS playset
- A new Sonic variant
- Dalek Factory Playset
- Make your own 'Flesh' set
- A Captain Avery Figure
- Rory and River CB figures

Has River or Rory got a proper full figure yet?

Not yet as far as I can remember. AK says she has been scanned for figures so I would say thats a certaintly and I can't imagine them not having a Rory figure at some point.

Especially when we still don't have a Rory fig - the lack of one is really puzzling me

The only thing I can think of with it is that perhaps Arthur hasn't given permission for his likeness to be used. Either that or he has and they just don't want to pay the royalties. A figure like Uncle you can get away with because it doesn't really need to (and definately doesn't) look like the actor, which means they won't have to pay the guy who played him any money, but with major characters where they have to be more realistic, they are more likely to end up out of pocket and since Amy is the 'main' companion she is the one who gets priority

It's probably more likely to be the latter. I can't see any good reason why someone with a couple of lines in one episode would get a figure over Rory. It just doesn't make sense

Exactly. After nearly 2 years in the role you would think he would get priority over a random (and not even that likeable) character

I don't know if they are due before Christmas, but there are apprantly two Jo figures and a Jamie figure on the way. I think it is meant to be secret, but both actors said this week that Character Options had taken body measurements and whatever else they do. One of the Jo figures is going to be a 'Three Doctors' figure with the fur coat

Here are some more. A new bearded Doctor varient, a doll, a pack of 20 Cybermats, a Cyberman with a broken face and a Cyberman with a broken chest.

Further up this thread a few of us discussed the lack of a Rory figure. Here's what Arthur Darvill had to say on the matter in a Radio Times interview:

Stylishly dishevelled in a sweater that may have first seen the light in the last winter of discontent, Arthur Darvill, who plays Rory, looks a little downcast. “I don’t think they’ve actually brought out a Rory action figure,” he sighs. “I’ve done the face-modelling for it – they do a weird camera scan of your head in different positions – so I presume there will be one, but not yet. We should start a campaign.”

I think he might be joking on the end there, but we really should have a Rory fig by now.

I've changed this thread from 'Coming this Christmas' to a general thread about figures from the new series and taken all the other bits out and put them into relevent threads. All new release figures will now be put in here unless they are specialist like the maxi busts or the tall ones that cost upwards of £100 etc.
