I gave this one full marks too. People will no doubt come in here and sum it up far better than I can about how great it is so I will leave it to them, but I really think its a brilliant story.

I gave this one a 5. I loved the original story and the TV story just improved upon that. I thought the setting was brilliant and I loved all the stuff with Joan and the Doctor. Definately one of the strongest stories since the show returned

Another four from me. This is a great story with a good setting and a brilliant cast. It lost a point though because of how much Baines really, really grates on me from beginning to end

"Because I've seen him. He's like fire and ice and rage. He's like the night, and the storm in the heart of the sun. He's ancient and forever... He burns at the center of time and he can see the turn of the universe... And... he's wonderful."

Full marks. I agree with Doc RE Baines being awful, but it wasn't enough to stop me loving this story.

"He never raised his voice. That was the worst thing - the fury of the Time Lord - and then we discovered why. Why this Doctor, who had fought with gods and demons, why he had run away from us and hidden. He was being kind. He wrapped my father in unbreakable chains forged in the heart of a dwarf star. He tricked my mother into the event horizon of a collapsing galaxy to be imprisoned there, forever. He still visits my sister, once a year, every year. I wonder if one day he might forgive her, but there she is. Can you see? He trapped her inside a mirror. Every mirror. If ever you look at your reflection and see something move behind you just for a second, that's her. That's always her. As for me, I was suspended in time and the Doctor put me to work standing over the fields of England, as their protector. We wanted to live forever. So the Doctor made sure we did."

5. This is about as good as it gets. I'm not, for the most part, the biggest David Tennant fan in the world, but he is absolutely superb in this. Without him doing anything remotely over- the-top or 'actory' he makes it completely believable that the Doctor has become an entirely different person, and the scenes he has with Jessica Hynde (Hind? Hyne? Hines? Oh you know, the one who used to be Jessica Stevenson) are just wonderful.
Martha also gets a great story in this. Often in this series she's just the stock companion (I get the impression of writers not really knowing who she was and just writing her a bog-standard-companion part at times) but she really gets a chance to shine in this, and Freema Agyeman takes full advantage of it.
And the whole storyline is brilliant. From the scary scarecrows at the start all the way to the very moving scene of the elderly Latimer at Remembrance Day at the end, everything just works perfectly. And the punishment the Doctor metes out to the Family of Blood is about as chilling as Doctor Who gets.

This one gets a 4. Brilliant story with some great acting, but there are others I like more that I think are more deserving of full marks

Full marks here too. I'm not surprised, Paul Cornell wrote this one. It's a brillliant story that is a nice what-if that at the same time helps the show step out of its usual template. But like all great sci-fi, it's not only an entertaining story, but one that makes us think about the human condition. Plus it has some nice references like the metebelis crystal in John Smith's room.

I read the original book this story was based off of- it's quite different from the tv adaption. More war imagery and less of the rosy budding romance with the Doctor. Plus it's the seventh Doctor and set in a slightly different context with the same basic premise. They're both brilliant and I don't think I can really compare the tv version with the book. They're surprisingly different yet similar at once.
