Sorry this thread is late opening. I wasn't able to get online yesterday and I thought someone else would have opened it ready for the episode.
Anyway, it is here now so please use it to discuss episode 4 and rate it in the poll above.

It was ok - not great. Eve doing an American accent was pretty funny but I felt that a lot of stuff in this episode was kinda predictable. Also, the voice of the 'bad guy assassin' was really annoying to me for some reason. I kept thinking, 'why are you talking like that?!' But maybe that's just me. Hoping that next week will be better.

It's still not Torchwood - I liked Gwen doing a US accent and Jack using John Smith as an alias, but the show is still putting all the focus on Rex, and that Esther bird is a bloody muppet.
I'm a bit confused by Oswald holding up the baby too - not dead or not, wouldn't there be outrage considering he's a paedophile?
Hopefully it'll turn Torchwood once we find out who these "families" are.

Using John Smith as an alias was brilliant!
I've also noticed that every single episode continues to portray Oswald even more creepily and I'm loving it. Now, the man holding up the baby was not actually as confusing as you may think. He's now being put on a pedestal as an ambassador of this new world so all rules are going out the window. I expect him to become more of a key figure in the Torchwood world in later episodes

I guess I enjoyed this episode, Gwen's American accent was priceless, but sadly I have to agree with TFD there is wayy too much focus on Rex and Esther for my liking!

You know something, the way it's focussing more on them, it kinda reminds me of the collossal let down that was Blade 3. In that, Snipes was basically a glorified cameo, getting the same feeling here to a large extent. It feels like they are setting it up for a "new" Torchwood to replace Jack & Gwen.

I think perhaps because I wasn't totally invested in "Classic" TW that I'm not so concerned about the slightly strange feeling this incarnation has (and I do agree - it is different to old TW). But I am loving this. Particularly (and I feel like a broken record here) but Bill Pullman is simply awesome. An inspired piece of casting and every week he is giving me goosebumps with his performance.
Independence Day was released in 1996.

I went with a four. It went into a little more depth but it's still not really advancing very much. I am enjoying it, but I am starting to think that perhaps all the episodes are going to be filler and they will then go all out on the last two episode or something with the bulk of the story.

I went with a 3. Bit late watching it this week. I'm starting to lose patience with it now. I want more to happen, or more to be implied to be happening, whatever. It's starting to feel awfully slow now

I went with a three as well. The pace of it all is starting to really drag now and I just want it all to start kicking off
