What are peoples thoughts on this little nugget? I am a sucker for canon and so I tend to totally whitewash over the whole thing and ignore that it was ever said, but I do know that some people take it as gospel and now believe that it is true of the Doctor and all his incarnations etc. Others I suppose just don't care either way. What about you?

I tend to ignore it. It's never been mentioned before or since, and something about it (which I can't quite put my finger on) feels just totally wrong. I suppose it could make sense - maybe it's why the TARDIS constantly brings him to Earth (as she always takes him where he needs to go) and the source of his mixture of love and antagonism for humans. But I don't think so.

The thing to remember with DW canon is how much it has changed, how many inconsistencies there have been over the years. When something that was said in the past proves inconvenient the writers have seldom been too concerned about ignoring it. This, I think, is one of those things that is best ignored. Yes it happened, yes it was said. But no it didn't, and no it wasn't. The Doctor is not half-human. Isn't, never has been, never will be. Move along please, nothing to see here.

The thing is with this is that it was one of those changes that they stuck in but really wasn't needed. I'm just glad they have never made mention of it again because I don't like the thought of the Doctor being half anything. 100% Gallifreyan is just fine

Yea this is one of those ideas that probably seemed like a good idea at the time but in hindsight is just a really stupid change to make. I'm glad it didn't stick though

The less said about this the better. I remember hearing it for the first time and I just couldn't believe they even went there. Like everyone else I'm glad it was left alone after that

I think it was something they stuck in there to suit that particular story but was totally unneeded and pretty much stands against everything we knew of the Doctor up to that point. Personally I don't see it as canon and I think it is a good thing that it has been pretty much ignored ever since

I was surprised to hear this in the movie and I agree with the rest of you that it was unnecessary. No idea why they put that in there but glad it has been ignored since.
