I tried keeping the title as random as possible so there isn't any spoilers in it.

Anyway, the whole time that thing was going on where River was kissing the Doctor and giving him his life back, I couldn't help but think that, and this is going to sound completely stupid, but that it would result in River being pregnant or something random like that.

I know it probably sounds ridiculous, but did anyone else think similarly?

No, I sort of understand what you mean. When I was watching I was thinking about how they should have babies, but I don't want the implication of sex, so I think as cheesy as it is, that could be a cool way to go.

Or not.

Not sure about the pregnancy thing, but it certainly wouldn't surprise me if it turns out to have some kind of extra significance. In fact I'd probably be more surprised if it didn't.

Yea I agree. It seemed to me like we were supposed to read something more into it. It was quite a grand looking scene, so I think that there will be something more to it. I don't know if it will have anything to do with a pregnancy though, but a pregnancy somewhere along the line wouldnt surprise me.

Yea it didn't really make me think that and I'm not sure if I would say it would lead to pregnancy, but I wouldn't be surprised if some sort of cosmic childbirth came out of it or something. Its probably very unlikely though

Now, children, you don't get pregnant just from kissing.  What happens is... Cool

Nah, can't get pregnant on a family show like Doctor Who without getting married first.  They made a big deal about the fact that River was conceived on Amy's and Rory's wedding night.  Although if they weren't having sex beforehand I'll eat my hat.  If I had one.   Smiley

The Doctor wearing a tux did make me think there was more significance there though - why would he run and change into that outfit when he was 32 minutes from death?  That's something a groom would wear to his wedding.  Was that kiss supposed to be a symbol of their marriage?

The scene seemed very dramatic, but I suppose knowing what we found out after it, it was a very dramatic moment. I can't imagine that we will be seeing River having a child at any point, and I really don't think that that moment would lead to one, but I guess you never know until it's on the screen. Or not, as the case may be

I just assumed River was giving up her regenerations to him to save his life and to allow him to regenerate a load more times (thus the regeneration limit issue has been resolved)

I don't think we will see River having a baby at any point. One baby story has been enough personally, but nothing has been said to indicate that she has a child at all. I know that's not to say she doesn't, but I doubt it

Here's a suggestion...(not mine, someone in the Guardian blog mentioned it, I think, but it sounds interesting...)

The Doctor has destroyed his own race.  He often bemoans the fact that he's the last surviving Time Lord.  Melody/River isn't your actual Time Lord, but she has Time Lord DNA, apparently.  We could theorize that the two of them could have viable Time Lord babies.   Wouldn't he just love to reboot his own species (to relieve both his loneliness and, perhaps, his guilt)?  Or even, given the nature of timey-wimey stuff, to start it off in the first place...paradox!  This is of course if someone else hasn't been engineering events so that that happens...but maybe that would be making things slightly too complicated.  Who knows? Cheesy

What I don't understand is that although not explicitely stated, it is hinted at often that Time Lords are an order rather than the same as Gallifreyan. The biggest evidence for this, had it made it to screen, would have been Ace going off to Gallifrey to train at the Time Lord Academy to become a Time Lord, which shows it's not something you are born as. So how can Melody have Time Lord DNA. If that is the case it would mean that Time Lord/Gallifreyan is the same thing. Its all a bit confusing
