To be honest, I'm not surprised Matt won. Matt was in second place for so long, but then there was a load of votes and he took over by a long shot.
Probably new Who recruits who just watched the 5th series This, to be honest. The fact that the Fourth Doctor didn't even PLACE is a dead giveaway.

hahahahahahahaha. Great decision. A 'Classic' style Doctor for the Nu Who era. "Classic"? Hardly. Most of his mannerisms are a dead-on Ten.

Apart from a few in TEH after his regen I don't think he any of 10's mannerisms at all, he was more like 2/3 than 10 by a long way. Tennant never did seem alien enough for me, Smith has captured another side to the character that I think has been missing since the 2005 reboot.

Just to point out - the Fourth Doctor wouldn't place in a poll to find the Best New Series Doctor - he did however win Best Classic Series Doctor.

You clearly haven't watched a lot of S5 then, have you? I see some of 1, 2, 4 and 5 in him. Don't think I ever saw Ten walking about rubbing or clapping his hands together or waggling his fingers like Eleven often does. And, as also pointed out, last time I looked, Four wasn't a New Series Doctor.

Best Doctor is MATT SMITH!?
No Way! David Tennant was WAY Better. i admit Matt is growing on me, but he just lacks something that David has. he keeps the audience much more intrigued and interested, with a slight mystery to him, whereas Matt, well what you see is pretty much what you get.

[/color] Ten is one of my least favorite Doctors. Can't stand shouting and grimacing. I think Matt Smith is a fantastic actor. Oh well, different tastes and all that!

I think Matt is a more complicated Doctor, DT was basically his own Doctor whereas Matt definitely shows elements of previous Docs. He can also change emotions very quickly, like I imagine someone at that age could. He plays a character of huge depth and acts beyond his real age. DT was also too winey and sad after Rose left. Love DT of course, but out of the modern 3, he ranks 3rd.

Yes, I know... I misread the title and thought it was Best Doctor overall. I'm glad it was split up into two separate categories, but given there have only been three Doctors in the new series I suspected that things would be skewed.
