Totally wasn't expecting such a short amount of screen time. It was obvious from the get go who she was but I liked the little twist in it. I was gutted when she died though. I can't be the only one hoping to see more of her, surely!

Which episode is the Pterodactyl in? Isnt she in that one too? They showed in those scenes that she had a long history so hopefully they will flesh it out a bit more and we will get to see her again

I loved her and I will be gutted if we were to not see her again. I am sure that Young Mels will be seen again, but I don't know about older Mels

River said at one point that the first time she met the Doctor, she was a young girl and he knew all about her.  That suggests he's going to meet her in her past and his future - though she doesn't seem to remember him, so maybe not.  Aaarrghhhh

Yea I didn't think of that. Unless she meant that he knew all about 'River', rather than Mels. I suppose its open to debate depending on what they do with the story later on

Yea I thought it was a shame she wasn't in it a bit more and we didn't see more of her backstory, but I was pleased with just how much character they managed to squeeze in to her small amount of time on screen. I'd definately be up for seeing her again

I think River was referring to the fact that she was young inside, not necessarily that she looked young, or was young by human standards. She is Time Lord after all, so unless she was doing a lot of time travel while off screen, she still is young.

I thought she was a terrible actress, so my own hope is she doesn't come back.

I seem to be "minority guy" for this series though.

I thought she was pretty good, acting wise. I didn't like everything she had to say, but thats more a writing thing than an acting thing, and I thought she was quite good and I quite liked the character so would be happy to see her again

I liked her. I think they made her a bit too sassy and I don't think I would have been able to cope having her in the TARDIS full time, but I would certainly like to see more of the character for sure

I agree with you, I wasn't thrilled with the Mel character at all.

I'm kinda with you on this. I wasn't mad keen on her. I thought her rebelliousness was a little too laboured and forced. I actually cringed when she said "I've got a gun, you've got a time machine - lets kill Hitler!" I mean, people don't actually talk like that do they?

More generally, I am a little fed up with rebel girls who are "wild child" but tamed by the Doctor and yet still keep their sassy streak! Haven't we done that to death with Amy?

I wouldn't go as far as terrible, but I wasn't overly keen either.

With you 100% on this. It didn't help how she was just thrown right into the action, either.

I'm still waiting for the reveal that River is Bonnie Langford. It all makes sense when you think about it. This is Moffats big conspiracy to get Mel travelling in the TARDIS again. The only water in the forest is the River. River is River Song is Melody is Mels and then Forest is Bush is Melanie Bush is Mel/s. You know it's going to happen Tongue

It's one of the signs of the apocalypse, apparently...
