BBC Worldwide have announced that the classic Jon Pertwee story Invasion of the Dinosaurs will be released some time in January (although we know how these can be somewhat moveable feasts. The story was originally entitled simply "Invasion" and episode 1 of this story exists only in Black & White. It is the hope of the release team that this will be restored to full colour (hence the caveat about the release date - there may be restoration problems).

There is no information as to whether the Dinosaurs will be replaced /renewed by CGI effects. However, given the release date, I would estimate the chance of CGI dinosaurs appearing as being less the 0.000001%

*Invasion was first transmitted in early 1974 and starred Jon Pertwee and Elisabeth Sladen*

And IMHO is an absolute belter of a story (wobbly Steggys notwithstanding) I can't wait for this one!

You know what? The dinosaurs in this are spectacularly naff, but I think I would feel a little disheartened if they CGI'd them up. A little bit of classic cheesiness is ok

I've never seen this, but I want to watch it for the effects alone as its reputation is well known. If they remaster it then I won't be able to see how bad they really were.

Usually when they CGI the effects you can choose which version you watch.  I normally stick with the original.
