Never before has Karen Gillan put in such an excellent performance. Her scenes as the older Amy were flipping excellent. Those little scenes where she would steal a glance at Rory, or that bit where she was holding the lipstick wanting to look nice for him, just brilliant! That bit at the end where the Doctor closed the door on her. The look on her face then just summed up the emotion of the scene brilliantly and I hated him for doing it to her. Totally brilliant!

I've always love Amy and the way Karen has played her, but this was definitely the best of them I've seen so far!

She's been great all this series, but in this episode she really took another step up. She had a brilliantly-written part and did it full justice.

The Dame has it spot on. She completely rocked this episode for me. Her playing both parts could have gone so wrong, but she was excellent. She said on Confidential that they were going to get an older actress in to play the role but I am so glad she did it herself

I am amazed at just how much my opinion of Amy has changed over the last few months since this series began. She has grown so much and really started to stand out as an excellent companion. In this story Karen Gillan was absolutely superb, there is no question about it

Like Hannah, I've loved Amy from the start, but this was definitely her finest hour (or 45 minutes) so far.

Brilliant. My opinion of the character and actress has changed so much and she has just become absolutely brilliant of late. She was right up there with the best all throughout this story

I have to agree with everyone else. She played a blinder in this episode. I was really impressed

I'm just having a rewatch now and I think that scene with Amy and the lipstick is my favourite of the whole episode. Just the way she is acting all tough but yet staring at it and contemplating putting some on because she still has those feelings for him after all those years, but all the while looking stern but heartbroken. Its all just brilliant. Karen played that scene brilliantly. I love it

Yea that's a great scene. And the one with the two Amy's talking through the magnifying glass was also a favourite of mine. That was where Karen was at her strongest I think because she made it feel like they were two very different people, but also the same person.

If nothing else I think she has proved, not just in this story but in series 6 as a whole, that the mess that the character was in last year during series 5 was down to bad writing of the character. Karen Gillan took a lot of stick about her acting because she was too shouty or too starey or whatever, but she has shown throughout this run that she can be brilliant and really has quite a range, so I genuinly believe that those moments last year that she was picked up on were bits from the script or direction and not because she couldn't do anything better, as was suggested by many

I agree. I will hold my hands up and say that I didn't always have nice things to say about the character and I did question the acting of KG (though I would like to add I reacted mildly compared to some people), but she has totally proven me wrong. She started out strong in series 6 and just got better and better with every episode

Completely agree with Peri.
I didn't much like her at all in S5, but S6 she's been nothing short of fantastic.

I thought she put in an absolutely storming performance this week and I've been really pleased with her performances this series. The character has grown so much and has become so much better

I always knew she had it in her. I have loved Amy from the start and always defended her against the people who said she was a one trick pony. This season, without any doubt, she has proven to be an excellent character and Karen Gillan an excellent actress

She has definately come on leaps and bounds, there is no denying that, and there is no questioning that Karen Gillan has been putting in excellent performances this season. I have been really impressed with her

I didn't much like her at all in S5, but S6 she's been nothing short of fantastic. My sentiments exactly. I found her annoying for the first 2/3 of season 5. This episode she really bowled me over!

Ok, well firstly I would have to agree with the majority that Amy has improved no end this year and I would also have to agree that they have really shown how good Karen Gillan actually is instead of just making her a glary whiner, but for me I think the damage is done. I can accept her improvement but I will never fully like the character because of how awful she was to begin with. Don't get me wrong, I like her a heap more than I did, but for me her good performances this year haven't cancelled out how amazingly dreadful the character was in her first year right through to the Comic Relief specials

I did not like Amy much at all in Series 5, but I was determined to stick it out, hoping that she would get better. This is an excellent example of when that works. Amy has become the bomb- worthy of her husband, worthy of the Tardis, and more than just someone to look at on the show. She has become truly amazing.
