What do you think was in there?

We heard the Cloister Bell ring so it could be TARDIS related, but my initial thought was that it would be Kovarian and the baby. Do you think we will ever find out or is it meant to be left hanging?

He is also vain, ego-centric and quite mad

I think that is exactly right RR Smiley We can all imagine what would be in there - I think he sees his dead companions (and not just the one who 'died in the line') and everyone who he has outlived. I think that last quotation of the Nimon shows that but who knows Smiley I think not knowing makes it even more magical Smiley

Yea. Imagine the nightmares that guy must have. I think it is far more interesting to leave it open to guessing. It could have been one of a million things. Or a room of a million things for that matter

I agree with this. It could have been any number of things so I like that they didn't reveal what it was. Pinning it down would only have fans going 'but what about when....' etc

I think it'll be The Doctor himself, personally.
After all, why would he fear anything else monster wise - he's kicked all their @sses at some point.

If they show it in the finale to be the astronaut, or River, or the baby etc I will not be happy.
He's dealt with plenty of worse things in the history of the show.

Reading all this, the more I think on it the more I think it would be better to actually not know. I have loads of ideas on what it could be and I think part of me will always be a bit annoyed that I don't know but I think it's probably for the best that way

Maybe it was a screening of The Dominators? Tongue Grin

Like TFD, my first thought was that he saw himself in the room, though I like that we didn't find out.

Wouldn't that be too cruel, even for the hotel?

It could have been the Valyard.

First thing that came to mind was that image of River we saw in the trailer apparently naked and winking at him.   Wink

I'm glad they didn't tell us what it was. As Saber said naming one thing would have just made fandom start arguing over whether it was a justified fear or whatever, so I think not telling us was the best option. It also leaves room to come back to it later, should the writers choose

Now and then, every once in a very long while, every day in a million days, when the wind stands fair and The Doctor comes to call, everybody lives.

I would like it to just be left. I don't usually like when things are left open but when it comes to the Doctor I prefer it. He seems to have very little mystery left about him so it's time to build up some more

I too thought it would be the Doctor himself.

"Of course, who else?"

Unless it was River. Sort of like the Astronaut scene from TIA

My personal thought is that his room held the death of the Tardis. I mean, "who else" is he that committed to? The Tardis is his longest standing companion!

Definitely would be the TARDIS in my opinion. If I'd never seen The Doctor's Wife then I'd be more dubious but in addition to the cloister bell it adds immense weight to the argument.

Not to mention, that earlier in the episode, the Tardis goes missing. Did we ever have any explanation for that? Huh?

Presumably it was just deleted from the VR, because it offered a means of escape.  It was still there in the underlying reality, but I'd imagine the matrix could choose whether to show it or not.
