I mentioned this ages ago, but Frederick Treves, who plays Brotadac, is the great nephew and namesake of the doctor who treated John Merrick, the Elephant Man, and was played by Anthony Hopkins in the film. This Frederick Treves also had a small part in the film, along with Pat Gorman, a perennial DW monster from the 60s and 70s.

Meglos was intended to return in The Lodger. An early script depicted him encountering the Eleventh Doctor, with the Doctor not remembering who Meglos was.

The sound effect created for the approach of the Fendahl in Image of the Fendahl is re-used as background atmosphere for the Tigellan jungle

I didn't know that. I wonder why the Doctor would have forgotten it

I didn't know that. I wonder why the Doctor would have forgotten it Yea I was wondering that, too. I'm glad they didn't go with it though. I don't think a cactus would really work in todays series

I don't think a cactus would really work in todays series I can't see how it would have worked in that story, but I suppose it didn't really have an ending or antagonist so with a bit of tweaking anyone could have been behind it. Odd that the Doctor would have forgotten Meglos though

I can't imagine something like this would work in todays show so I am glad they scrapped it from The Lodger. Saying that though I am sure they would have done something more high tech with some CGI or something so you never know it might have worked.

I was just saying in another thread, that The Elephant Man was actually a number one film while this was airing, so that's a nice little link (assuming its the same film)
