I love her, and she puts in a brillian performance every single time, but I sort of wish she didn't come and do this story. I understand as a jobbing actress she goes where the work is etc, but I just think it would have been nice to keep her just as Barbara. On the plus side though, aside from having the same face, she manages to play the role so well and so differently that you don't ever sit and think you are watching Barbara, so at least it isn't too distracting.

I don't think they would get away with it now though. You could never have Billie Piper just come in and play someone completely different for example. Or even Paul Mcgann. He has been off our screens the same length of time as JH had been, but if he showed up now nobody would just be ok with him playing another character.

[Peri-Peri]

I really liked her in this. It was quite a departure from Barbara and she played it really well so I wasn't sitting there thinking of Barabara the whole way through. It was nice to see her in the show again, it's just a shame it wasn't as Barbara

Another excellent performance from the actress, no doubt about that. It's just a shame they put her in such a bad story

I am the opposite of others in here. I thought she played it brilliantly, but I just couldnt shake the fact that she is 'Barbara' and it was destracting because I would have much rather seen her come back as Barbara than in different role entirely

The highlight for me in this story is definately Jacqueline Hill as Lexa. She puts in a brilliant performance, as she always had with Barbara, and steals every scene she is in. I do agree though that it is a shame she came back as a different character

[Exterminate]

I love Barbara. She is one of my favourite companions, so it was nice to see JH back in the show, but as I said elsewhere they should never have recast her in a different role. She was available for work so it would have been a great opportunity to bring Barbara back. She played the role brilliantly though.

[Tardis-Console]

It would have been nice to see her back in the show as Barbara but she did play this role really well. I have to admit though that it sort of disctracted me throughout the whole story because as good as she was, I still wanted her to be Barbara.

[Roranicus]

Ok, so on the positive side, as everyone else has said JH played the role brilliantly and her acting was great, but in my opinion they should never have cast her in this role. I think it undermines the Barbara character somewhat and really takes you out of the story because no matter how well she played the role she is Barbara. It's not the same as watching an actor in multiple shows or seeing a bit part actor playing more than one role in the same series. Barbara was a hugely important character and I think it was a mistake bringing the same actress back to play a totally different character.

I didn't really mind her being a different character - it happened a lot in classic Who, although more often before the iconic character - but I do regret that her return wasn't in a better story.  She was the main thing that makes it watchable, though.
