I found Craig to be a lot more likeable in this episode. I wasn't keen during the Lodger but he seemed a bit more toned down here and funnier as well. I've always had this niggling feeling that he would end up being a companion and while I think it's probably very unlikely, after watching this I think I would mind it a little less if it were to happen.

Well I wouldn't want him as a companion, I know that much, but I do think he was a far better character this time around and more watchable. I don't really rate James Cordon, but in fairness to the guy he put in a good performance tonight

I was really impressed with his this week. I didn't particularly like him in the last story, but he was far better this time around.

I liked him pretty well in both, but I don't think he would work as a companion - it would be too manic all the time.  Anyway, what about his family?

Yea I couldnt handle him as a companion which makes me grateful for his family ties, but he was definately a whole lot better this year than he was in The Lodger

I liked him in both episodes. I've little time for James Corden as a person, but he's a pretty good actor and was particularly good in Closing Time.

I loved him in both episodes, but if anything I probably like him more in Closing Time, it just seemed more 'natural' and he played a father really well... but I think he'd make a good companion I really do! Smiley

I would agree with this.

And this.

Like others, I wasn't so keen on him in The Lodger but I much preferred his appearance here. He delivered his lines brilliantly and was a lot less manic and annoying than before.

I wouldn't want him as a companion though.

I don't particularly like Corden (although I couldn't explain why), but I still enjoyed The Lodger enough. Closing Time might just be the ticket to change my mind on him. Thought he was really great this ep

I hated him last year but thought he was pretty funny this time out. Not keen on the idea of him coming back though.

I liked him in this. I don't know if I would want to see him on a regular basis, but now and then would be ok I guess.

Fat. Annoying. Douche.
Corden is not an actor, so for me this was watching Corden ponce around in a Doctor Who episode, much the same as Peter Kay ponced around in "The Episode That Shall Not Be Named"(tm)

I've read that they are apparantly planning on bringing him back again, but I don't really see the point. He isn't a bad character, but does he really need another appearance? There are far more deserving characters I think. Canton, Jenny/Vastra, Nasreen, Sally Sparrow to name a few. Craigs story is done, but I think this is a lot more mileage in those other characters.
