Perhaps the little girl regenerating at the end of Day of the Moon wasn't River after all. When you stop looking at a Silent you forget all about it, but when you see it again you remember previous encounters (Amy in the bathroom remembering seeing them on the beach as an example), but in the end scene of todays episode River saw the Silents and screamed which knowing her nature isn't something she would do had she been familiar with them (or even in general really). If River was the same person as the young girl in America then why didn't she have any idea who they were?

It might be a blooper or an oversight but perhaps this is something new that Moff is planning to pull out of the bag?

I hope it's just an oversight to be honest. Opening another plot thread at this late stage would just be a bit too much I think. Its pretty much accepted though that it was River so it wouldnt surprise me at all if it was a red herring

I've got a theory,
that it's a demon,
a dancing demon,
no,something isn't right there.

(Willow)
I've got a theory,
some kid is dreaming,
and we're all stuck inside his wacky broadway nightmare

(Xander)
I've got a theory we should work this out,

(Willow, Tara, Anya)
its getting eerie whats this cheery singing all about.

(Xander)
It could be witches, some evil witches,
(glances at Willow and Tara)
which is ridiculous cause witches they were persecuted, and wicca,
good and loved the earth, and woman power, and i'll be over here.

(Anya)
I've got a theory it could be bunnies!...............

(Tara)
I've got a theo--

(Anya)
Bunnies arent just cute like everybody supposes,
They got them hoppy legs and twitchy little noses,
And whats with all the carrots?
What do they need such good eyesight for anyway?
Bunnies, Bunnies, it must be bunnies!
.... Or maybe midgets?

(eveyone is staring)

(Willow)
I've got a theory we should work this fast,

(Willow, Giles)
Because it clearly could get serious before it's past.

(Buffy)
I've got a theory, It doesnt matter.
What can't we face if we're together?
What's in this place that we can't weather?
Apocalypse... we've all been there,
the same old trips, why should we care?

(All but Giles)
What cant we do if we get in it?
We'll work it through within a minute,
We have to try, we'll pay the price,
Its do or die,

(Buffy)
Hey i've died twice!

(All)
What can't we face if we're together?
What's in this place that we can't weather?
There's nothing we cant face....

(Anya)
.... except for bunnies. *sigh*

I wouldn't be surprised if it was just an oversight to be honest. Or it could be that Amy remembering was the oversight. Or maybe it's only Amy who can remember?

Amy does seem to have some weird stuff that goes on surrounding her so it wouldn't be too out there to imagine that she is the only one who can remember upon seeing them again. I don't remember any other character being that specific but then just because it isn't said, doesn't mean it's not the case.

Probably an oversight.

For that matter, why didn't the River on the beach remember being in that suit?  She was in prison for murder; surely she would remember the circumstances of that murder?   Nor did she seem to know who the child was in TIA/DOTM.  I can't imagine Moffat overlooking a plot hole that big.

Maybe she has been conditioned not to remember them? She also seemed to have no idea who Kovarian was, despite being the woman who kidnapped her and trained her to kill the Doctor in the first place.

I think this is probably it. I just watched it again & Kovarian clearly says to her: "Oh don't try and remember me. We've been far too thorough with your dear little head."

I would say that goes for the Silents as well.

Yea she definately makes a comment abobasically saying her mind had been wiped or something, so it's probably just that she only remembers what they want her to. Which is sort of sad really because it means she may not have chosen to help the Doctor after all. Maybe it was always the plan

That's a good point actually. We were led to think that she had a change of heart and wanted to bettr herself, but it could have all just been part of the larger plan

I hadn't even thought of that. I guess that's probably exactly what it is then.

The question now though is if she has been programmed as some sort of sleeper, are they still controlling her in her future? How much influence do they have over her in say the Angel two parter, or TPO, etc.
