So for the Doctor, 200 years have passed between the last episode and the latest one. Do you think we are likely to see or find out what happened to the Doctor in all this time or do you think it will just be glossed over as irrelevent?

One of my girlfriends who was watching with me tonight came up with a good idea. She knows that Moff has been saying that the Doctor will really, really die and so suggested that possibly the next series or two could be set within those 200 years, therefore letting the series run on but helping Moff to keep his word about the Doctor dying, which with the right amount of writing to explain whats happening could actually be a bit of a genious idea.

Not impossible, although that would mean Matt Smith being the final Doctor, and I can't see the BBC being willing to kill off such a successful show as soon as he leaves.

My theory is that it's simply Moffat giving past-Doctor novelists and Big Finish writers of the future plenty of extra time to fit their extra stories in, with room for lots more companions that we never see on tv.

That's actually quite a cool theory. Having a regen in the middle of a run would be new at least. It might end up all being a bit confusing for new viewers though. Not that that seems to matter much these days

I hope we get to see some of 200 years, because there's still a lot of open questions that need to be answered.  Plus he's had all of those adventures with River that she's mentioned from her diary; when they compared diaries in TIA they matched.  Finding and caring for Melody, how she got to England to grow up with Amy and Rory, where did he go during those 32 minutes in LKH, and oh by the way, why did the TARDIS blow up?  How is all of that going to be resolved in one episode!?

I have a sneaking suspicion that something's going to happen that means those 200 years get cancelled and never happened.  Timey-wimey again.

I'd really hope that they are adressed in some way or another. I think it is most likely though that we will just be told about it. Setting episodes within that time frame could end up being really confusing. I think its more likely that they will end up as some of the many adventures that we hear about but never see.

I'm with Roranicus. I think it's more likely that we will just be told in conversation stuff that happened during those 200 years rather than have actual televised stories. You never know though.

They are bound to address it. I really can't see them expecting us to just accept that 200 years have passed and then not tell us anything about it at all.

Oh God, can you imagine that was their plan all along? Cry

The way the BBC is being run at the moment I wouldn't be at all surprised.

This is my thinking as well, except they didn't really mention on screen that 200 years have passed (they did in the opener I know, but that was a while back and people may not remember) so they may very well just leave it.
