My friend has text me saying she just saw a new page on Facebook set up by people talking about their disgust about how the show has become 'too gay' based on the scene earlier between Craig and the Doctor. I'm waiting on a text back with a link so I can have a look myself and post in here but I was wondering what peoples thoughts were?
Personally I thought it was hysterical, particularly the face the Doctor pulled when leaning in for a kiss, but I knew as soon as I watched it that there would be a load of people complaining about it. Anyone get offended or does anyone actually care?

Personally I couldn't care less. But we're talking about a show that used to be produced by Russell T Davies and had Captain Jack as a recurring character, and they think it's suddenly become too gay now?

Blimey people get their knickers in a twist over some right old nonsense don't they. Too Gay? Anyone who has watched the show over a period of time will testify that it is one of the campest shows in the history of television and always has been (that is part of its charm!) I wonder if they similarly chastise Easterenders and Coronation Road for being 'Too Hetro'?
Ah well, its the type of stuff that the Daily Mail keeps trudging up when trying to bash the show so its no wonder that it should seep into other areas.

I think a lot of people just like to pick holes in things and a scene like this is a very easy target to moan about. There was nothing gratuitous or sleezy in the scene worth complaining about. Its just peoples prejudices coming through while they hide behind the argument that it's a childrens show instead of just saying they personally feel uncomfortable with the thought of a scene with homosexual overtones, even if it was meant in a comedic way.

I think this is spot on. Very often with this argument people hide behind the 'it's a kids show' tag, but there was nothing indecent in there to complain about.

Exactly. After all these years to suddenly say it's 'too gay' seems a bit silly. As KEP says though, some people just like to moan and pick holes in things

Well homophobia is nonsense in my opinion, there can only be 'too gay' in the same way as something can be 'too straight'. People saying about it being a kids show implies there's a difference between gay/straight... in this day and age, is that a stereotype that should be enforced to kids? Kudos to Doctor Who, I say

A couple of papers picked up on it too. The show has had actual gay couples in it before. Even in this very season. This was very obviously two (as far as we know) straight men in a comedy scene and now people see fit to complain? What then? Do these people honestly think anything will change? It strikes me as a tiny minority making enough noise to make it seem like it's more of an issue than it is. It's the people with no argument who shout the loudest after all.

A bit of homo-eroticism never hurt nobody. Matt is hot no matter who he flirts with, and the fact he seems so comfortable in those scenes makes him seem hotter. Perhaps those uncomfortable with it are really just uncomfortable with how much they actually like it

Perhaps those uncomfortable with it are really just uncomfortable with how much they actually like it While it would be quite funny if everyone who complained about it was secretly a closeted homosexual, I think its far more likely that most of them are just idiots.
