On the wedding day of Snow White , and Prince Charming , the Evil Queen arrives and delivers an ominous threat about a powerful curse she intends to release upon them. Some time later, a pregnant Snow White is worried about the curse and visits Rumplestiltskin who issues a prophecy that the Queen's curse will take them all someplace terrible where there will be no happy endings, except for her. He also reveals that Snow White's unborn daughter, Emma, will return when she is 28 years old to rescue them, thus beginning the final battle with the Queen. On advice from the Blue Fairy, Geppetto and Pinocchio fashion a wardrobe from a magical tree which will allow one person to escape the Queen's curse. On the day Snow White gives birth to her daughter, the Queen's curse strikes. Prince Charming places their daughter in the magic wardrobe, but is mortally wounded battling the Queen's henchmen. The Queen stands triumphantly over Snow White and Prince Charming as the curse takes them to "someplace horrible". In present day Boston, Emma Swan lives a lonely existence working as a bail bondsman and bounty hunter. After blowing out a candle on a cupcake for her 28th birthday, Emma is approached by a ten year old boy, Henry, who identifies himself as her son, whom she had given up for adoption as a teenager. Not wanting a relationship with him, Emma agrees to drive him back to his home in not-so-quaint Storybrooke, Maine. Along the way, Henry shows her a large book of fairy tales he has, insisting that all of the stories in it are real. When they arrive in Storybrooke, Henry informs her that everyone in town is in reality a fairy tale character, exiled by the curse and with no memory of their real identities. This includes his therapist, who is really Jiminy Cricket, and his teacher Mary Margaret Blanchard, who is really Snow White. He claims that time is frozen in Storybrooke (shown to be 8:15 on the Towns Clock) and the people are unable to leave, but that the curse will be broken by Emma. A skeptical Emma returns Henry to his adopted mother, the town Mayor, who is really the Evil Queen. When Henry soon runs away again, Emma finds him and decides to stay in Storybrooke temporarily. This decision causes the hands of the town clock, previously frozen, to begin moving again.

Has anyone watched the pilot for this? Or plan to? I was hooked from the synopsis and have been waiting months for it to air and when it started last week I wasn't disapointed. It is getting rave reviews and good ratings so far. Disney have licenced out loads of characters for use in the show so I expect we will see real life versions of lots of them along the way which will be cool. Its made from some of the writers of Lost, though they have said it is going to be a lot more straightforward than that. It's one of the best pilots I've seen so far this year so I can't wait for episode 2.

I thought it was great. I was unsure at first how it would play out and whether it would work, but they did a great job with it and I'm looking forward to the next episode.

This hasn't aired down under yet but I think Seven have bought the rights so it should do pretty well as long as it gets some good promotion. I'll probably download it though because they usually take ages to air stuff after the states. It sounds pretty cool.

I enjoyed it enough I guess. It was a bit of a slow start but I guess they had a lot to set up so I suppose thats understandable. I think it could be pretty good so I will stick with it and see where it goes.

I enjoyed it. There is another show that started this week called Grimm which is quite similar but on another network that was good, but this one is better I think. It'll be interesting to see where they go with it.

I really liked episode 2. It was nice to see Pam from True Blood in it but I didn't like what they did with Malificent. It was good though that they got a lot of back story in so early on. I think this is going to be a great show the more it goes on.

Only seen the pilot so far, and I thought it was ok. I found the kid to be super annoying though, and I'm not a huge fan of Jennifer Morrison (Emma)
I'll keep watching for now though. Got ep 2 ready to watch

Yea the kid was really annoying in the first episode but he was toned down a bit in the second episode. I'm enjoying it so far overall but I agree about the Malificent comment a few posts up. She looked more like a washed up 80s pop star that an evil witch. Perhaps Disney would only allow the character but not the likeness or something. They are planning a Malificent movie so it would make sense that they would want to retain the identifiable parts of the character and she is barely named on screen in this show.

I enjoyed episode 1, but episode 2 was a lot better. More was explained and the characters were more fleshed out, plus the little kid was loads less annoying. Its shaping up to be a good show so far.

This really is getting better and better. Episode 3 was great. I loved the backstory they gave to Snow White. I thought that was really interesting. I like the sort of 'Lost' comparison they have going on with the characters where all the stuff in Storybrook is focused around everyone but then the 'flashbacks' to the Enchanted Forest focus on a particular character. I think that works really well here.

This series is getting better as it goes. After the first episode I was uncertain if I would stick with it but I am glad that I did.

The latest episode was really good. I had to wiki the ending though because I didn't get what the glass was all about. Apparantly it was
Snow White's glass coffin
but that wasn't clear to me and I rewound it twice.

Glad I read it here, because I had absolutely no idea what that was all about. I do like that it's bleeding together though.

Just throwing in my 2 cents here; This show is F*CKING AMAZING!!
Just watched the mid-season finale & it was a heartbreaker. Won't give anything away, but this is an awesome show, and if Robert Carlyle doesn't win a ton of awards there's spmething seriously wrong. His performance, especially as Rumplestiltskin, is amazing - his best work in years.
Noticing as well that the showrunners quickly realised in the case of Henry, that less is better when dealing with child actors.
PS for Doc, I'm also watching Grimm - it's almost Buffy with a dude - but still really enjoyable, apart from seeing Sasha Roiz (Caprica, Warehouse 13) in yet another villainous role.

Totally agree with this. I am still holding out hope that what seemed to happen at the end there didn't actually happen but I'm thinking that I am out of luck. It's getting better and better!
