Throughout a lot of stories we see the Doctor have a flicker of something with certain people he encounters like Jabe, Lynda or Agatha for example, but the whole thing with Reinette was a whole other level. It all felt very out of character and he seemed overly taken with her for no apparant reason. I love the story but that aspect of it doesn't really fit in with his character or the season as a whole.
