For this weeks story we turn again to the Tenth Doctor, this time alongside Martha Jones in the third series story, 42. A spaceship hurtles out of control towards an alien sun and The Doctor has 42 minutes to save the ship, but with a mysterious force starting to possess and murder the ship's crew, the Doctor and Martha are running out of time.
42 was the seventh episode of the third series of Doctor Who. To promote the episode, Joseph Lidster wrote a short story entitled 42 Prologue focusing on Erina Lessak and the events leading up to the episode. The story, which expands on the backstory of Erina and other characters, was published exclusively on the BBC's Doctor Who website in May 2007.The next story will be posted on Sunday November 13th

This is one of those stories I think that always gets overlooked but I absolutely love it. I don't know why because there is nothing particularly spectacular about it, but I always just really enjoy it. I think it's well acted with a great pace and an interesting storyline. It doesn't get the recognition it deserves.

I gave it 4, but a good 4. For me, it doesn't quite have that special zing to give it a 5, but it's a good story. A group of characters stuck in a spaceship is a classic set-up, and it's handled well.

I'm giving it a 4... This is actually I think the only S3 episode I can bear to watch over and over, totally underrated in my opinion, and I love donno what the actor's name is; want to say William Ash, I totally love him and he was amazing in Waterloo Road too, that made the episode rather special for me, but yeah a brilliant episode.

P.S. I'm loving having these new episodes in here, it makes it so much easier for me to join in without too much trouble.

I find this episode quite boring and it has sent me to sleep before The concept is potentially quite good, it just doesn't live up to it. I give it 2/5 (Bonus point because 42 is a LOST number)

I gave this a four. It's a good story but it had the potential to be better I thought. The reason I marked it down was because even though we all knew everything was going to be ok, the suspence and sense of threat wasn't as built up well as it perhaps could have been. It's always really enoyable though I find.

A smashing little tale this and, as Saber says, nearly always gets overlooked but when you give it a re-watch it is brilliant. I never particularly like the dialogue of Chris Chibnall's scripts but this is certainly a nice plot with some good moments. A solid 4/5 for me

I gave it a 5/5, because it just seems like a really good all around episode to me. It is a very individual plot line for Doctor Who.
I am not a big fan of Martha, but she was really good in this episode. The cast was all really great, and had a dynamic of a team. DT was angry in this, which I tend to like, when it isn't really over the top. Maybe the best thing about the episode though, is that it is in real time, so it really adds a lot towards that sense of urgency.

Sorry guys, it was my job to change the story this week because the Doc is away but I can't remember what the story is meant to be and I must have deleted the PM because I can't find it. We're going to have to let this one run. Apologies

I went with a 5. My gut told me to mark it a 4 but when I thought about it I really couldnt see anything to mark it down on. I love the story and thought the cast were great. It's a shame it doesn't get recognised for how good it is.

I have given this story a 3, though I think 3.5 would have been closer to fair. The overall story I have no problem with, but I think the script got a bit weak at times. Some of the acting was really good, but I think a couple of the characters were a little undeveloped. One the whole though an enjoyable enough story.
