I don't understand why they bothered getting the little boy all the way to the lighthouse, putting the halo on his head and everything else, if they already knew that males were weak and that they needed a woman. They had no way of knowing anyone would ever follow him there so it's not even as though he was bait.

I don't know if this is right, but when I spoke about the show to my dad on the phone last night he said that the plane used wasn't in action when the story was set.
One thing that I noticed was that the children were wearing evacuee tags when they showed up at the house, despite the fact that they travelled by car with their mum.

This may just be me, but it looked as though the halo thing on Madge's head dissapeared after it was put on, when the scene cut back to her.

I don't know much about army/war telegrams, but surely they wouldn't send one to Madge saying her husband was dead (within a day, no less) when nothing would have been confirmed. Surely MIA would have made more sense, or something along those lines.

Haha yeah, I had to look closer at that, she just wears it far back on her head, so it looks like she doesn't have it on from certain angles. The telegram just said that he was lost over the channel on the night of the 20th, not that he was dead or even presumed so as no wreckage would have been found. We see that she has it on the night of the 23rd so if anything there's a delay in getting the message to her if she only received it that day.

One day I shall come back. Yes, I shall come back. Until then, there must be no regrets, no tears, no anxieties. Just go forward in all your beliefs and prove to me that I am not mistaken in mine.

Maybe they couldn't tell the difference between male and female humans. They found out he was "weak" when they tried out the halo on him. No-one's mentioned the opening sequence, but I think that's had plenty of discussion elsewhere.

Surely the kids, especially at that age, would look noticeable older after three years.
