I like the Doctor in this, especially that scene at the end where he just wanders out of the engagement party looking all sad. It shows a really different side to him. I think he knew throughout this story that he was going to lose Jo which makes some of their scenes together seem so sad, almost to the point, like where Jo is crying on Cliffs shoulder in episode three, where the Doctor seems sort of jealous and like he wants to keep them apart. Their pairing was such a good one.

I don't think he was jealous but you could definately tell that he was hurt that she had chosen to leave him. They had built up a great relationship and you could tell he was attached to her.

I do love the relationship that Three had with Jo and I thought his reaction to her leaving was lovely. You could see he wanted her to stay but at the same time wanted what was best for her and for her to be happy. They were a good pairing and had a great relationship

One of the bonus features on this DVD shows outtakes from rehearsals and fluffed scenes, and you really get a feel for how JP wanted to play the Doctor. He was constantly wanting to retake scenes where he thought he could do better or say things in a different way and it was really interesting to watch. JP isn't one of my favourite Doctors but I do love how into the role he was.

The Third Doctor's my favourite, and he was on top form in this, in my opinion. As I've said elsewhere, I always see his relationship with Jo as a kind of surrogate father/daughter one, and I think it was both written and played to perfection here.
