I usually complain about how emo the Tenth Doctor is, but I really like him in this story. It makes sense for him to be a bit more solemn and I like the way it played out in his anger at the end of the story, with Donna having to tell him to stop and basically calm down. I think it dragged on a bit much into the third series, but in this story it made sense and I liked it.

See I don't like it. I don't like that he let a companion, one of so very many, get to him in this way. It wouldn't have been so bad if it was limited to this story, but it extended over 2/3 of the next season and I think to an extent for the rest of his tenure. For the purpose of this story though I think it worked ok.

One thing that stood out to me in this story with the Doctor was how reckless he was. He always goes on about giving chances, which to an extent he did with the Racnoss, but he mercilessly killed all her children and was so adamant in his anger that in Turn Left we see that he would have drowned had it not been for Donna forcing him to stop. I mean, in fairness they were going to come and eat the human race, but he just seemed to revel in it all.

^^It's like when he sonics the cash machine and all those people run into view. He knew the paper wouldn't stop the santas so he must have been hoping for a human shield of sorts from the people scrambling for the cash. Not very gentlemanly

I think it was more for distraction than him wanting them to take the bullets for him, as the santas seemed pretty focused on their target. I can sort of see your thinking though.

This was the turning point for me of when Ten started to go downhill. His anger/upset makes sense here and was sort of justified, but it went on for far too long after this story.

I didn't like Ten in this at all. I can deal with his emoness but his anger in this, for me, was silly and pointless.
