An Unearthly Child is where it all started and far too many people haven't had the chance to watch it. A four episode story that first introduced us to the Doctor and the TARDIS, An Unearthly Child (sometimes known as 100,000 BC) sees the Doctor and his new companions transported back to the stone age where they must settle a power struggle for fire between two seperate tribes. If you havent already seen this story then we think its about time you did, so get a drink and some crisps and tuck in. I couldn't find a better version so the last few minutes are in a second video, but don't let that deter you. Let us know your thoughts below on the very first story

Now and then, every once in a very long while, every day in a million days, when the wind stands fair and The Doctor comes to call, everybody lives.

I heartily reccomend this to people who have never seen it. Episode one of this story is great and what better reason than this to get stuck in to a classic. And the very first classic at that

I remember the very first time I saw this. I thought it was brilliant straight away. I know there are a million ways this show could have started but the one we got was perfect. Really love it and if you have never seen it then I urge you too

This is what got me hooked on Doctor Who, and the first episode in particular still takes me right back to being nine and hearing that weird music for the first time. Essential watching.

It's been a good while since I've watched this but intend to correct that right now. Please DO NOT disturb

Sarah Jane Smith: No.The universe has to move forward. Pain and loss, they define us as much as happiness or love. Whether it's a world, or a relationship. Everything has its time. And everything ends.

I remember first seeing this. I didn't know what to expect. At one side, I expected something more dramatic in the way of aliens or chaos, but on another level that I appreciate better now, I loved the teasing and casual jaunty pacing of the first episode. Generally when I speak of this story I leave off the last three episodes. Though I think that the Doctor's near murder of the caveman is significant and a nice checkpoint to compare with later aspects of the Doctor.

Today, the Kaled race is ended, consumed in a fire of war. But, from its ashes will rise a new race. The supreme creature. The ultimate conqueror of the universe. The Dalek!

I'm sort of with Davros in that when I first watched this I was expecting a lot more in the way od 'scifi', like space and aliens. I do always enjoy this story and I don't hate on the final three episodes as much as some others, but I do think it didn't quite live up to the promise of the opening part.
