Time to take a look back at the very first ever season of Doctor Who and tell us what your favourite story is and why?

When you look at it in a block like that it's really quite a strong opening season for the show. My favourite story of the lot though I think has to be The Aztecs. There were a couple of candidates but that is the one I think I would be more inclined to put on when faced with the choice. I love the story and the setting, and some of the sets and costumes looked fantastic. It was also nice to see Barbara take more of a centre stage because I think up until that point she had been in the background a lot more than Susan and Ian had.

The Keys of Marinus. I only watched it for the first time recently and I thought it was excellent. I really enjoyed it.

I went for The Daleks. It was a bit of a copout vote though really and more to do with history and nostalgia than actually being the best story. Marco Polo probably should have got my vote. Or The Aztecs

It was very close - The Daleks and The Aztecs were both superb, but in the end I went for The Keys of Marinus.  I found the idea awesome at the time, and I still do today.  One of the things I love about it, which is very rare in TV SF, is the way you really get the feeling that there's a whole planet out there, with loads of differents climates and cultures, instead of "the planet" being a few square miles around where they land.

Marco Polo gets my vote. Such a shame it's missing, but the audio is excellent.

The Sensorites. Probably not a popular choice, but I like it Smiley

I like it overall, but I've always felt it falls off quite a bit from an awesome first couple of episodes.

The Aztecs for me. Couple I could have gone for, but the Aztecs won it because I want Barbara's headdress

The Daleks. Simply one of the greatest pieces of Science Fiction (let alone Doctor Who) ever written.

My vote goes to The Keys Of Marinus. The first time I watched it I wasn't keen, but everytime since I have loved it more and more and now it's one of my favourites.
