Here it is guys. The story you were all waiting for. Its the Second Doctor story, The Dominators. When two rogue Dominators and their robotic servant Quarks land on the peaceful planet Dulkis, planning to drop a radioactive seed into the planet's core of the planet to refuel their spaceship, the Second Doctor, Jamie & Zoe must attempt to inspire the non-aggressive Dulcians to resist.
The Dominators was the first story in season six of Doctor Who. The serial was written by Mervyn Haisman and Henry Lincoln but they left the project after the story was shortened from six to five episodes and the Quark design was altered from their original concept. The job of getting the script ready for television passed to Norman Ashby. Although it was the Dominators who were the titular villians, it was the Quarks who went on to make reappearances in Doctor Who via TV Comic. The next story will be posted on January 29th.

I know that I've been counting down the days... I've gone with a 2. The only thing that stopped this from being a 1 is that The Doctor and the companions were particularly good in this. Or maybe they weren't and they just seemed that way because the story was particularly bad. I always feel a bit bitter about this story for being one of my least favourites but yet being one of the few full Troughton stories to survive. This is one of may all time least favourite stories. Top three worst, probably.

1/5. Shockingly bad. So few redeeming features. I also definately agree with Saber about the slight bitterness that this survives when so many better stories don't. Everything about it just felt wrong. The plot, the pacing, the characters. Everything.

I've not always been the biggest supporter of this story, but on my rewatch this morning I have to say I enjoyed it more that I ever have on previous watches. That's not to say I think its suddenly great. It's still largely pants, but it does have some good things going for it. Yea, the story is a bit runaraound and dull, the costumes leave a lot to be desired and some of the characters are pretty unmemorable, but the TARDIS team are all on top form, the Quarks are sort of excellent and the Dominators are all so b!tcy that they bring the funny, even if unintentionally.

I am so, so sorry (it helps if you say that bit in a David Tennant voice). There are very few (in fact i would say single digit) stories that I simply cannot abide. I think in a (nearly) 50 year run that is very impressive. Remember (if you can) I love The Twin Dilemma - so if you think this is me being antsy I promise, nothing could be further from the truth.
This is a stone, cold stinker. The plot is feeble. The idea behind the plot is feeble and no one really looks like they believe in the story at all.
I agree with Saber. Why does this survive when we can't see Power of the Daleks? Or Fury from the Deep? Is this how Mr Copper felt at the end of Voyage of the Damned?
I am so, so sorry (do DT's Doctor voice again)
I gave it my very first (and hopefully only) 1.

This really wasn't very good, was it. There were a couple of moments where it seemed like it was going to pick up and take off but it never really got there. I'm going to go with a 2, but only because I am rounding up from 1.5 instead of rounding down.

I don't actually think that it was that bad. I kind of liked the dominators themselves, who seemed almost like prototypes of the Sontarans, and the fact that they were always squabbling between each other. I kind of liked the pacifist society, even if it did seem a bit borrowed from the Thals and didn't really seem able to develop. But maybe thats the point of a pacifist society. The turning the planet into a fuel source was a bit daft but was at least original, and with a bit more work might have been less daft. So, yes, it definitely wasn't as good as it might have been and the elements didn't gel as they could have done. Yes, some of the design wasn't as good as it might have been, though it was better than some First Doctor stories mentioned above. So I give it a 3.

I've given it a three. It wasn't amazing, but it wasn't as bad as I expected it to be. I went in with really low expectations based off of what people on here have said so I think perhaps that helped a bit. It isn't one of my favourites, but I have seen worse.

Just a 1 from me. A very poorly thought out plot with dreary dialogue and dull characters. There was potential there but the writing just didn't match it. It's a shame really but it really just doesn't live up to its potential.

I hovered between 1 & 2, but I gave it the benefit of the doubt in the end because the regulars were all good. That hasn't been true of all the weak stories.

2 from me. So many things wrong with it, but held together by some great acting from the main cast and some great potential from the Quarks. The Dominators were probably the biggest let down because they were really poorly realised but could have been excellent. Not a favourite of mine and not one of the better second Doctor stories, but not the absolute worst.
