Season 4 of Doctor Who began airing in late 1966 and contained the very first regeneration story when William Hartnell's Doctor turned into Patrick Troughtons. The season contained 9 serials made up of 43 episodes, of which only 7 episodes remain intact. Which is your favourite?

A very uneven season, this one, but one of them stands out amongst the rest for me and that's The Power Of The Daleks. I've only ever listened to the recons for this but it still made a huge impression. It was a great introductory story for the Second Doctor with a great plot and everyone was on fine form. Others in the season were good, just not as good.

I've not seen or listened to anything from any of these stories so I was a bit cheeky with my choice and instead voted for the one I would want to see the most. While I have heard great things about many of them, there is something about The Macra Terror that really makes me want to watch it. I know it's not a popular story and once I listen to the recon I might really dislike it, but given the choice I would go for that one first. Then the Highlanders.

Really difficult to rate a story just from reconstructions so I'm going with The Tenth Planet. I really like the old-style cybermen with their funny voices and preferred them to the more militaristic models they became. Here they seem genuinely puzzled by the fact that the humans do not want to be converted and get rid of their emotions.
Give a nod to The Faceless Ones as well. What episodes do remain are very effective

There are quite a few I considered, but I've gone for Evil of the Daleks, mainly because it was the one that stuck most from actually watching it.
There are ten surviving episodes from this series, in fact - 3 from The Tenth Planet, 2 (now) from The Underwater Menace, 2 from The Moonbase, 2 from The Faceless Ones, 1 from Evil of the Daleks

I have to copy Roranicus and go with the one that I would most want to see/listen too, and so I have chosen The Faceless Ones. Great title, departure of 2 companions and apparantly a brilliant guest turn from someone who decided not to become a companion. How could it not be good

Such a shame to look at that list and see how much is missing. My vote for the best story has gone to The Evil Of The Daleks.

I've gone for Troughton's first story - The Power of the Daleks. I've always loved the audio soundtrack and I think it is such an interesting proposition. I would also like to see the Macra Terror for this reason as well. And the Evil of the Daleks.

This for me was a pretty weak season, with few highlights. My choice was The Tenth Planet, but more for the Cybermen and regen than anything else.
