Another Fourth Doctor story this week which sees the Doctor return to Gallifrey in The Deadly Assassin Through the millennia, the Time Lords of Gallifrey led a life of peace and ordered calm, protected against all threats from lesser civilisations by their great power. But this was to change. Suddenly and terribly, the Time Lords faced the most dangerous crisis in their long history…
The Deadly Assassin was the third story of Season 14 of Doctor Who. It was the only televised story in Doctor Who history not to feature a companion. Tom Baker had told Philip Hinchcliffe that he could hold the show on his own, and with this story already in place, it was seen as a pilot for such companion-less stories. However, it was deemed that a companion was a necessary feature of the show. The next story will be posted on Sunday February 12th

Full marks. This is one of my favourite Fourth Doctor stories. Brilliantly written, brilliantly acted and a real high point of the series. I love the stuff with the Master and the Matrix stuff was brilliant.

I've gone with a 4. It was better than I expected but I felt myself sort of drifting away towards the end so perhaps I should give it another watch. I enjoyed the stuff set in the dream matrix a lot more than the stuff on Gallifrey and episode 1 felt a bit dragged out. It was a good story though.

Full marks from me. I think this story is awesome. It's interesting on the extras they say that when it was released it was really quite unpopular, but now it's really highly regarded. I'm glad of that because I think it's great.

Full marks from me. It's a wonderful story, and its few faults aren't enough to take a point off.

4/5 from me this week. It's a strong story that is let down by a slow and dragged out opening episode. Perhaps if it was a later episode I wouldnt have minded so much, but it makes it hard to really get into the story properly for me. Other than that I don't have much to complain about.

Just a three from me for this. It's not a bad story, I just think it drags out and gets a bit boring in parts. I think it would have helped to have a companion in the mix.

I was pleasently surprised with this. It wasn't that I thought I would dislike it, but more that I didn't realise I would like it as much as I did. It felt a bit like it could have done with a feminine touch to it because it was quite male heavy, but other than that I didn't really have any faults with it.

One of my all time favourite stories. Robert Holmes in full "gothic horror" mode. An allegory about decaying power and the dangers of corruption. It was just amazing. Personally speaking, I don't think Tom Baker has ever topped this performance as The Doctor. Needless to say, a big shiny 5 from me.

I have given this a score of 4. Like a lot of the others, I think episode 1 let it down. Other than that thought it was pretty good.

I've gone for full marks. I think its a really strong story and Tom Baker was brilliant throughout. There were a few bits that weren't as strong, but nothing big enough to justify marking it down.

4 from me. Some of the effects were a bit dodgy and everytime I watch it I get bored with the first episode, but its not a bad story and it was good to see more of the Time Lords

Just about a 5. I felt the lack of a companion, especially in the first episode where Tom Baker is reduced to thinking aloud and/or talking to himself in order to explain what was going on. The idea of bringing the Master back as this decrepit barely-alive thing was brilliant.
