Honestly. What were they thinking. Such a silly title. Surely being deadly is part of the job description for assassins? I suppose its slightly better than the original intended title of The Dangerous Assassin, though

It is a bit silly, isn't it? They should have used something cooler, perhaps relating to the Matrix or the Master. Or was the Masters return a secret? I dunno, but either way they could have come up with something a little better.

The Dangerous Assassin would have been just as bad. This title though is famously bad and gets mocked a lot. Wasn't Curse Of The Fatal Death a mickey take of it, too?

Its not quite as silly as it sounds. I imagine if someone employed me as an assassin I would be a rubbish one (hence my upcoming autobiography "The Rubbish Assassin")

Although technically the word assassin is the noun ascribing the action of assassinate (the verb) to the object. So in strict grammatical terms, you can only be an assassin if you assassinate. Anyone who doesn't assassinate is a failed assassin so, to return to your original post "Deadly" and "Assassin" could well be a tautology.
At least its not as bad as "Phantom Menace". Although my most hated title is "Evil of the Daleks", which - although a great story - is completely bereft of any suspense as to who the villains might be thanks to the title. Its like having the title of Castrovalva as "The Place Made up by the Master to Trap the Doctor", or "Let's Kill Hitler" as "Mel regenerates into River in Naz1 Germany".
I think i might need a lie down.

You could pretty much say that about any of the 'of the Daleks' episodes though. Cybermen ones too. And lots of others.
