I haven't seen the classic Macra story and when I first watched this I don't think I even knew they had appeared before, but now that I do know I can't help thinking that using them was a total waste. They were so insignificant that it may as well have been anything down in those depths. It's nice to bring monsters back but to me this felt like a totally wasted opportunity. I've wanted to see/listen to The Macra Terror for a while now. I hope that they are used better in that story when I finally get around to it.

I think most fans feel the same to be honest. I would love to see them come back for a proper story.

Their first outing wasn't particularly well recieved I don't think so I was sort of surprised to hear they wold be coming back for this story. When it aired it was quite disapointing but unfortunately I don't see them coming back again to rectify that. Unless they leave another 40 year gap that is. I could be wrong, though.

The Macra Terror is one of the completely lost stories, unfortunately.  You can still get the audio or the reconstruction, but it won't be seen again, unless something turns up.  To be honest, I don't remember anything much about it from seeing it, and the reconstruction felt like "OK, nothing special".

I never thought the Macra Terror was a particularly popular story. It's ok but there is nothing particularly special about it. I agree though that bringing them back for this story was a bit of a waste. I suppose it filled the job of reintoducing a classic monster for Series 3 as had happened each year before.

I will eventually get around to listening to all the lost stories, but I wasn't planning on any particular order and this one always just stood out to me and sounded really exciting. I'll get around to it eventually, though none of you are filling me with hope for a good story. I've found myself liking a lot of the less popular stories though so you never know, I might just love it Smiley

You should definately listen to them. You can find most of them online and some of them are brilliant.

It's a bit of an okish filler story really. Nothing to get excited over but not a terrible story either. It's enjoyable enough but don't expect heaps of excitement from it.

It was nice to have them return as a nod to the classics, but that's all it was really. A nod. Their appearance was pretty pointless and disapointing. They may as well have gotten 'extra no. 3' from episode 2 of The Romans for all the difference it made.

A wasted opportunity, that's for sure. Even without the focus of the episode being on them, they still could have been put to better use for the time that they had on screen.
