I watched it. So funny. I think now that it's on a different channel they can get away with a bit more.

I loved it! I was already laughing in the first 30 seconds -

Laurie: So I was reading something
Ellie: Already not a true story

hahaha loved it Grin

Series 4 has been sooooo good so far. Numbers for the network seem steady, but I've no idea if they are good in comparison to their other shows. I hope they keep it going though.

Yeah I hope they stay strong too. It's been an excellent start - really funny and no naff episodes so far. I thought S3 was weak compared to S1/2, but they've really stepped it up again so far this year Smiley

And it's great that TBS is giving them so much support and advertising - ABC is hell for shows that don't get really high millions of viewers.

I've not been feeling it. I don't know why. I still laugh, but it feels watered down

Not a massive fan of the latest episode. I really can't stand Tom, so an episode focussed on him sucked. And I hate he's part of the group now. He'll kill it if he's in every episode as a main character Undecided

It was actually better than I thought it would be. I'm not really a fan of the character (shallow, but mostly because of how weird he looks, I think) but sometimes it's funny just for the way they all treat him.

Yeah that's true. But then I guess they didn't have them all sat down together so time will tell I suppose!

Ellie in the burger van was hilarious Grin

What has everyone thought of the recent episodes?

I think it hasn't been as good as the first 2 or 3, only a few laughs here and there. I think addressing Laurie and Trav too openly hasn't been good. Their somewhat subtle flirting was more enjoyable in S1/2.

I really liked the last episode with Jules and her dad on the hammock though. That scene was really sweet Smiley

I think the last season was great, but the ep count has taken another cut and I think it's probably time to start saying goodbye to the series. I don't think it will be around much longer. It's a huge shame, but it just can't seem to find it's audience.

It's a shame, but I think you're probably right.

I agree Sad And whilst I think the quality has dropped a fair bit from the amazing S1+2, it's still just so much fun to watch so I'll be sad to see it go

Hopefully the shorter season will mean more quality episodes. It's such a great little show, but the new network is pretty much unknown and it's not surprising that it is rating low. It deserves to do well though. What are the ratings like in comparison to other shows on the network? It may not be doing well but if it is holding up against the other shows then it could be a keeper.

Figures from the announcement of a 5th season:

Quote
Since launching its fourth season on TBS Jan. 8, Cougar Town has averaged 2.8 million viewers, 1.7 million adults 18-49 and 812,000 adults 18-34 in Live + 7 delivery. The show ranks as TBS’s top original primetime series ever with adults 18-49 and total viewers. As part of Cougar Town‘s successful transition to cable, new episodes on TBS are drawing an audience whose median age is seven years younger than the show’s last season on broadcast.

So sounds fairly promising. Small figures compared to other networks but decent for TBS it seems.

Courteney Cox is desperate to stay on TV so as long as she is in, it will probably continue.
