I never understood why they needed to unmask the Doctor in episode 2 in order to work out it was him, despite the fact that one look at his clothes should have done the trick.

When the Doctor is apparently dead, he's lying somewhere in the middle of the Punishment Dome, then a few seconds later he's being brought in ready for the acid bath.

Also, when Peri thought the Doctor was dead, it didn't seem to occur to her that he might regenerate, even though she's seen it happened not too long before. She might even have been secretly relieved  |
