This week we turn to the Tenth Doctor in series 3's 'Master Trilogy'. Because of the fan debate about whether or not this story was a three parter, this week you have the option of rating it as a whole, individually or both. Jack's back! As Captain Jack comes storming into the Doctor's life again, the TARDIS is thrown to the end of the universe itself. As the last remnants of humanity struggle to reach 'Utopia', unknown to all, the Doctor's greatest enemy is about to rise again...
Harold Saxon becomes Prime Minister, and his reign of terror begins. But his dark ambitions reach beyond the stars...
Earth has been conquered and the Master rules supreme, with the Doctor his prisoner. Martha Jones must save the world. The next story will be posted Sunday March 11th.

I've never been a huge fan of this story. Utopia is great but the other two parts, especially the finale, aren't great. I'll try get it done tomorrow or Tuesday though.

I'm giving the overall story a four. Most of that is because of the excellent Utopia. TSOD is a good 'frantic' episode with lots going on and is enjoyable enough and I like most of the finale, but I think it is let down by the retcon and the DobbyDoctor.

Wow, lots of polls this week It's been forever since I watched this. It's one of those stories I never reeally reach for. I'll give it a watch later, though I pretty much know how I will rate it, I think.

I'm giving it a 3... I rarely watch these ones, I quite like Utopia, but The Sound of Drums and Last of the Time Lords I just find kind of dull. Find it quite funny that I sent in an audition tape for that role awarded by Blue Peter But these three episodes I think always get pushed to the bottom of my list when I pick an episode to rewatch. I was never a huge fan of series 3 and Martha, I just found Martha too irritating! I also personally thought that these episodes were too Martha/Jack based and the Master is just so annoying- and I'm pretty sure they never fully explored what Jack says at the end!!

As an overall rating I'm giving this a 3. It started off really well with Utopia but then got progressively worse as it went on. It wasn't a great overall story to begin with, but I really didn't like the way Simms Master was written. The Toclafane weren't great either and I wasn't keen on having Jack back.

I got it done early You know, I expected to go away and watch this and then come back and moan about how much I didn't like it. Maybe not watching it for ages was a good thing though because I sat through it again and really enjoyed it. Because of that, I've given it a 4.

Rating this story as a whole I'm finding quite difficult. I think it deserves more than a four, but at the same time there are enough things about it that annoy me that giving it full marks seems unfair. A lot of what I don't like about it centres on that final episode. The stuff with the CGI Doctor is daft, but the name chanting 'have faith and the world will be better' stuff just goes against the grain for me. I think 4.5 would be fairest but I am feeling generous so I will round up and give it full marks.

As an overall score for the three episodes I'm giving it a 4. I think it has a bit of an unfair rep because of the stuff with the Doctor turning into God in episode three but with that aside its a fairly solid story. It's not perfect but I prefer it to the finales for series 2 and 6.

I've gone for a 4 overall. I think the story is strong but I have issues with how the Master is written at times and I think they overdid it with the CGI stuff in the final episode with the Doctor.

I'm giving it a 4. I love the first two episodes but I am not as keen on the final part. I do like it, just not as much.

I'm going with the majority and giving it a four. I think some people are overly harsh on this story because of the CGI stuff and use that as an excuse to bash it, but if you look at it aside from that it's a really strong and decent plot. It's not perfect but it's not as flawed as some people make it out to be.

I've gone with four too, with much the same spread - Utopia best, LOTTL weakest. Unlike a lot of people, I like this Master (though I do think they spoilt him in End of Time) - I can believe him as the same person as Delgado or Ainley, but rejuvenated and full of energy, and perhaps a bit more insane.
The feature that particularly got on my nerves (which NuWho does too much overall, IMO) was all the little flashbacks every time anyone mentioned something that had happened in the past - even within the same episode. Yes, we do have memories.

I'm giving it a 3. I don't love it, I don't hate it. I don't have major issues with it but it's never really one I reach for when looking for a random story to watch. It's not one I consider much at all, to be honest.
