I don't know why but I always thought that both parts of the S3 finale aired on the same night. I know the others didn't but I always thought this one did. Shame it dipped just before the end but at least it peaked for the finale.
Also Utopia should have had a higher AI.

I kind of understand why the Utopia was 7.8m- it was highly promoted by Blue Peter- because of their involvement in it.
But weekly I can see why Utopia wasn't as high, if I remember rightly, no one knew it was a 3 parter finale until the evening before (It was on Totally Doctor Who that it was a three parter finale) therefore if people didn't know about that they wouldn't be as likely to watch all three parts to it?

How can you remember that far back? I barely remember what happened last week.

Am I right in thinking these figures are a lot lower than other finales. I was sure series 1, 2 and 4 had over 10m.

I just had a quick look and The Parting Of The Ways got about 6.9m (I think this might be overnights because I'm sure it got over 7 , Doomsday got 8.2 and Journeys End got 10.57
