I'd like to think that option C is the wrong one, personally.

There will apparently be a 'world exclusive' announcement about missing stories at an upcoming convention in Australia.

It could be that they have found something, but there doesn't seem much hoo-ha about the news. The animation studios that they used for Reign are in Australia so it could just have something to do with a reanimation.

I'm very dubious about this - it has "hoax" written all over it, but I thought I'd post the link anyway.  The area you have to get into where it claims you can download the missing episodes requires a credit card for age verification, and I'd strongly advise against using one.  That's a traditional scamming method.

The link above doesn't work, but based on the name of it I would say that it's a load of tosh! Would be awesome if true though.

Rumour has it that one of the celebratory shows around the anniversary will be a feature on the junking of episodes and why it happened and how they have gone about getting them returned etc. Someone posted elsewhere, claiming inside information (nothing concrete to show as proof, though admittedly they have been pretty reliable in the past for spoilers) that two episodes will be revealed in the show to have been found, completing a Troughton story.

Take it with a pinch of salt, but I thought it would be worth mentioning. If true, it would narror it down to:

The Underwater Menace
The Moonbase
The Ice Warriors
The Invasion

With The Ice Warriors having an animated release shortly, I'd say it won't be that.

Wow if the above is true.

And now we should all vote which one of the four we'd rather see returned Smiley

I want The Moonbase. Just because it sounds cooler (though I think it's not a popular story)

Well there has been whispers of something being announced around the anniversary going back months, but nothing is concrete and it seems to come from a lot of anonymous sources. That's not to say it isn't happening though and I do hope it does.

And going on what Aneurin said, based on the fact that The Ice Warriors has just been animated, I'd choose The Invasion.

I'd go with The Invasion too.

I don't think there's anything wrong with The Moonbase.  I think the problem is that the same story was essentially done again as The Wheel in Space, and done a lot better IMO.

I'd love to see more episodes found, and if they completed a story that would be even better, but anything would be awesome. Based on what's been said above, I'd go for The Invasion.

Sadly, I genuinely believe there are no more stories to be discovered and that this is a ploy designed to increase someone's internet traffic. There have been (over the last few years) a couple of private companies trawling round TV companies in all corners of the world, trying to find these (imagine the marketing potential for Evil of the Daleks or Dalek Masterplan) and nothing has turned up. Ian Levine (someone who is well aware of the marketing/financial potential for such projects) has said that he is out of ideas and cannot see any more being recovered.

We may get the odd episode appearing out of an attic (like Galaxy Four/Underwater Menace did a while back) but a mass recovery of episodes or even the finding of a completed story... I'll believe it only when I hold the DVD of Power of the Daleks in my hand.

I think I'd be inclined to wait till I'd finished watching it.

In regards to the posts above, I agree that it is unlikely that whole stories will now be found, but I think it is more than possible that there are stray episodes to be found out there that could be put together to make complete serials.

As to the point about whether such a reveal will happen at the anniversary, I'm not too clued in on what is happening behind the scenes but I do try to keep my ear to the ground for spoilers and whatnot and this is the first I've heard about missing episodes being returned, even including just speculation.

As much as I would love it, I won't hold my breath. I don't want to get all excited to have it not happen.

It wouldn't complete a story, but the whispers I have heard in a couple of places is that episode 1 of Power of the Daleks has been found. All the focus seems to be on that and I haven't seen anything else spoken about as much as that particular episode, though there are other rumours out there, just none that are spoken of as much as that one so far. That I can see, anyway.

I'm actually doing a lot of digging on this now. Something else that's getting a lot of discussion but seems to all stem from one person posting it everywhere, is that a haul of episodes from loads of shows has been found somewhere (I think Africa, but I am not certain). Of the Doctor Who episodes that are found, most are currently in the hands of the BBC/released on DVD, but there are around 90 missing episodes in there of varying qualty.

Personally, I don't buy it. I'd love it to be true, but the liklihood is so slim that I think it's made up.

This has been going around for a few weeks now. I read that they are all in the hands of private collectors, which is an easy scapegoat for when we never get them. It can just be blamed on the collector not wanting to share.

Still digging here. From what I can see many people are claiming to have seen complete versions of Marco Polo, Enemy of the World and Web of Fear and that these stories are claimed to be revealed around the anniversary. This one is coming from more than one source in more that one place. Doesn't make it truer, but keeping it open.

That would be too brilliant to dare to hope it's true.

I'm not usually as skeptical as I am feeling today, but I just find it hard to buy. If someone said random episodes x y and z then perhaps I would be more open to it, but the idea of a haul of 90+ episodes or three (very awesome) complete stories turning up, I just find hard to buy. I'm posting because of the possibility, but I don't think I believe it. I want to, though.

That's one I haven't heard. Would be great if true, but like Nyki I don't think I want to let myself believe it. The fact that multiple people claim to have seen them though does make it sound a bit more realistic than the 90 episode find.
