Season 11 of Doctor Who began airing in December 1973 with The Time Warrior and brought with it a new companion in the form of Sarah Jane Smith. It ran through to May 1974 and Planet of the Spiders, which saw the departure of Jon Pertwee as the Doctor. Which was your favourite?

Maybe it's that I compare it to the season previous, but this season just doesn't feel as strong. All the stories are just sort of ok, but then we get to Planet of the Spiders which is great and at times so ridiculously over the top, but it really was the perfect ending for Jon Pertwee and definately the best of the bunch.

I've gone for Planet of the Spiders too. I've some reservations about all the others. The Time Warrior is mostly great, but the historical setting is rubbish. Invasion of the Dinosaurs is a great story with terrible effects. Death to the Daleks is good but not great. Monster of Peladon is too long for its substance. Planet of the Spiders is a classic.

Hmm, I think I really should re-watch the whole of Season 11 before attempting to answer this, as none of it is fresh in my memory.
From my fuzzy recollection of the series though, I'd say Planet of the Spiders. The departure of Pertwee is an iconic moment...

I've only seen two of those, and one of them I wasn't really keen on (Curse) so my vote goes to Planet of the Spiders

Death to the Daleks. It's campy and a bit crap but I love it.

Without a doubt Planet of the Spiders.
This is the one season where I am less than enthusiastic about the list of stories. I agree with Nyki's assessment - Invasion was probably the next best story but you can't really get past those effects. Monster of Peladon, Time Warrior and Death to the Daleks were ordinary without being special.

This really wasn't the strongest of seasons, was it? I've gone with POTS which actually was brilliant
