Just found this on Memory Alpha (yes I am a Star Trek fan as well)

http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Doctor_Who

It kind of got me thinking about other places I've seen or heard references to DW on TV or in films. This thread is the result. I thought it could be a place where we come to have those OMG moments that I know I feel when I notice DW reference somewhere unexpected.

So we've got the Star Trek ones in the link ...

Also coming quickly to mind was Sheldon Cooper in The Big Bang Theory (Season 1 Ep 7) who claims to get up every Saturday morning at the same time to watch Doctor Who on BBC America. On this occasion he can't watch the beginning because Penny is asleep on the sofa and he says 'I'll watch the last 24 minutes of Doctor Who, although at this point it's more like Doctor Why Bother.'

Anyone else got any? I'm sure you have. Share below  Cheesy

I'm not sure if this counts but our very own RTD wrote a wonderful series called Queer as Folk before he joined Doctor Who and that was shamelessly littered with Doctor Who references. Additionally, another 'before they were famous' was a really funny show by Little Britain stars Matt Lucas & David Walliams called Rock Profiles which, again (because Walliams is a massive Who fan) featured loads of little DW references.

Oh yes they count - I haven't seen either but I will be going off to do a bit of research into them now  Smiley

Queer as Folk will make you smile as it really echoes Rusty's style of writing. Its a bit 18+ in places but it also it really is funny and touching.

I think I can cope with 18+  Wink

Just found this link that covers some of those DW refs in Queer as Folk if anyone fancies a look http://nzdwfc.tetrap.com/archive/tsv60/queerasfolk.html

Poprockgeek that is a brilliant find Smiley I've thought of another Who reference - I am sure there is one tucked away in The Simpsons

Bound to be at least one mention/reference in The Simpsons - fairly certain I've seen a Simpsonised version of the Fourth Doctor.

My desktop is Simpsonised Eleven & co but they haven't featured on the show (yet!)  Wink

Warehouse 13 and Eureka both mentioned the show this year.

Ooh is that Season 2 of Warehouse 13? I'm only 2 episodes into S2 so it will give me something to listen out for. I did clock Claudia saying 'Allons-y' in episode 2 though  Smiley

This'll give me something to do when I'm watching TV in the evenings. It'll certainly make reviewing more fun Cheesy

I've actually already been doing it on Twitter (not just with DW though) - don't know why I didn't think of putting it on here before.

Just watching an old episode of Inspector George Gently (Gently in the Night) on Alibi and during an interview a suspect was asked to list what was on the TV as he gave watching TV as his alibi - guess what was on peeps? Yes you've guessed it - Doctor Who.

Reminds me that in the episode that was on BBC1 on Sunday Sept 26th (Gently Evil) a family are shown watching what is clearly a Dalek episode of DW & the daughter/granddaughter mentions the Daleks again later when she is interviewed.

@poprockgeek (sorry, I can't quote on my phone) The mention on W13 is the Allonsy one, on Eureka it was Zane asking if they wanted the TARDIS blueprints while he was hacking a top secret site...like the TARDIS would have blueprints lol

Ah cool. A friend of mine suggested I watch Eureka so it's on my never ending list - might just have jumped up it a bit due to a DW reference  Wink

Is there even enough paper in all time-space to blueprint the TARDIS? haha Cheesy

And surely by the time you'd got it all down on paper it would've all changed anyway!!!  Wink

Good point Cheesy

I think the lesson in all this is that even if you had all the paper in existence, you could never blueprint the TARDIS

There was quite a good sketch on Harry And Paul last night where it showed what Doctor Who would have been like if it was made on ITV in the 70s with the cast of On The Buses.
Unfortunately it was the only remotely amusing thing in the show, so I don't think I'll be bothering to see if they use the idea again next week.

"Saturday Night Live"- one sketch had Paris Hilton dressing up with various sci-fi inspired accessories including a Fourth Doctor scarf.

Of course, there are all those "Dead Ringers" sketches I saw on YouTube with costumed impressions and spoofs of the various Doctors, and Torchwood.

There were a few references to Doctor Who on the BBC's "Life on Mars," fitting in with the theme of different eras meeting!
