I think I am at peace with the production values of the classics. In a way it adds a funny sort of charm to the stories. The only remakes I would want to see are either lost stories or stories that were confined to studio space but deserved big sweeping landscapes, like Marco Polo

In general, I agree, and I certainly wouldn't want to see any of the classics replaced (and I very rarely watch with the replacement CGI turned on). There's just one or two cases where it would be interesting to see what's made of them now, mainly for the "big sweeping landscape" reasons - that was basically what I was talking about with The Keys of Marinus.
