One thing that has always struck me about this story is that it feels a bit odd to go for such heavy comedy straight after the Doctor's 'daughter' died (as far as he was aware). I hate when stories drag on and interfere with other stories but you would assume he would make at least a passing reference to it, or seem at least a little bit sad about it.

The show does this a lot. Just look at the whole Amy/Melody thing. Off the top of my head though I'm not sure if they mentioned how long it had been. For the Doctor and Donna it could have been a month or more between stories or something?

I think Exterminate is right. Any length of time could have passed. I can't say I'd ever really thought about it up to now though. I like my stories contained, not bleeding into each other, so I really don't mind that it wasn't mentioned.

That never really occurred to me, either. Then again, the Doctor (especially the Tenth) does the whole "Oh, I'm all right" act pretty convincingly.

I'd never thought about it. I think because of the ending of the previous episode where we know Jenny is ok it made me not think beyond that into what the Doctor might be thinking about it all.

What DuckPond said, really. As the viewer we knew the outcome and so I don't think it was heavy on our minds that there should be focus on it. It's easy to forget that the Doctor doesn't know what we know, I guess. I'd never really put much thought into it.
