I realise they aren't the most popular enemies amongst fandom but I have always quite liked the sontarans. In this though I found them annoying. Not so much the plot or the characters, but the design and makeup was just so bad. They could have made a lot more effort there I think.

Oh my god Karen, you can't just ask someone why they're white!

I find the Sontarans quite hit and miss. When they are good they are in awful stories and when they don't work they are usually in good stories. It always seems hard to find the balance with them.

Overall, I like the Sontarans, but I found them slightly "token" here - a bit like the Cybermen in Closing Time. Though I loved the scene where the Second Doctor was trying to provoke Stike.

This wasn't their finest apperance but the story was good enough that it doesn't matter too much. They didn't look particularly great though. I suppose budget went elsewhere.

The Sontarans felt a bit wasted for me. It seemed like they were brought in to have a familiar foe but then not given a story fitting of them. Would have been better to have something new I think so they didn't feel so wasted.

I generally quite like the Sontarans but I found them really annoying in this story. Not their best outing
