This is the first time we see the TARDIS in colour and I love it. It looks great. I'd have loved to have been born back then to get that first glimpse of it in colour after being off screen for ages and in black and white for the whole time before that. Plus there was a whole new console. Very awesome. One of my favourite bits of the story.

As great as the early Pertwee stories were, I personally missed the TARDIS a lot, so colour or not, it was just great to have her back in this.

I think at the time it would have been very cool, but I saw colour DW before I saw B&W so I think the effect of it was somewhat lost on me.
I agree with Ex though that watching in order, it was just nice to see it at all at this point. Must have been worse at the time with it being well over a year.

Now and then, every once in a very long while, every day in a million days, when the wind stands fair and The Doctor comes to call, everybody lives.

I can't say I'd ever noticed. I don't generally watch stuff in order anyway and even if I do it's in quick succession so it doesn't feel like it's missing for long.

I suppose it's understandable given that he was Earth bound, but I think going without the TARDIS for so long was a shame. It's like a character in itself.

I agree. I really think it's missing from some stories. Well, the whole time travelling thing sort of is!

I'm with TC. I can't say I'd noticed all that much. I think mainly because I watch out of order a lot of the time but also, like TC says, it probably was a lot more noticeable and lengthy feeling while watching on original transmission.

I'm with The Doc on this one. I didn't appreciate the full effect (as I imagine most who didn't watch it as it aired wouldn't either) because I was so used to seeing it in colour by the time I got to this story. I bet it was awesome at the time though. Especially after such a long wait.

I guarantee it changed a lot of people's favorite colours. After all, they only knew before that it was blue. Once they saw the exact colour... I'll bet a good deal of people fell in love.

Though most people at the time would have known exactly what colour a police box was. I don't think there were any actually around by then, but there had been in very recent memory. There was one on our street corner.

Ah, that's a good point. Well, by the off chance they didn't know, it would have been nice.
