Although it wasn't public knowledge that this would be the end of Doctor Who, behind the scenes it was widely speculated that the show wouldn't be returning. With that in mind do you think that this story worked well to close out 26 years worth of the show or do you think they should have gone with something more fitting to bring it all to an end?

I thought the story was great. They wrote a nice little ending in to be on the safe side and everyone put in one last great performance, but to close out the series? No, I think it wasn't suitable. It wasn't big enough to close out all that history. As a general story or even a season finale it was great but I would have preferred something bigger and more fitting to end the series.

I agree with the above. This story is great but when it comes to ending the show I think they should have had something a bit more focused on the Doctor and the show. Not bogged down in canon but something a bit more self referential that played up the history of the show.

In retrospect I agree, but remember that this wasn't designed to be a final story. There were rumours that the BBC was going to cancel, but the series was more or less finished before that was confirmed. They already had stories lined up for series 27. At least they managed to finish with a first-class story, even if it wasn't the very best of a great series, which involved one of the Doctor's major enemies.
Of course, if they had gone for a Final Story, it might have made the reboot harder.

I think it works well. The sudden cancellation probably helped the show in that sense. If they had known well in advance I think there would have been far more pressure to do something massive and then far more chances of it being a big disaster. Plus with JNT running things it would have had everything but the kitchen sink thrown in and be so tied up in canon and history that barely anyone but the **** fans would have been able to have a clue what was going on. Survival wasn't the massive series closing story that the show deserved but it was a brilliant story to go out on nonetheless.

I think Aneurin has hit it right on the head there.

I think Aneurin is right in what he says but I do also see where everyone else is coming from. It would have had a big mind blowing finale

I don't think it was suitable but I don't think that's the fault of the makers. I think the BBC should have had more respect for the show and given the DW team more of a chance to make something more fitting to end the series.
