Season 19 of Doctor Who began on January 4th 1982 with Castrovalva and ran through to March 30th and ending with Time-Flight. This season saw Peter Davison make his first full appearance as the Fifth Doctor and gaining his previous incarnations companions Tegan, Nyssa and Adric. Adric became one of the few companions to die onscreen when he was killed off in Earthshock towards the end of the season. Changes behind the scenes included two new script editors taking over from Bidmead. Antony Root took over for Four To Doomsday and The Visitation before being replaced by Eric Saward. During this season the show also moved from it's Saturday teatime slot to airing twice weekly on a Monday and Tuesday evening.

Earthshock gets my vote. It's another one of those instances where Doctor Who produced one of it's best stories and then followed it up with one of it's worst. Time-Flight is awful. No two ways about it.

He is also vain, ego-centric and quite mad

Earthshock for me also. This is actually a very good season - I loved Castrovalva and Kinda. The Visitation was almost my choice here as it is such a good tale and I didn't mind Four to Doomsday or Black Orchid. Time Flight was a bit of a lemon but thats not a bad return! Peter Davison settled so well into the role that by Kinda I was barely missing Tom Baker.
I just wish Chris Bidmead had stayed as script editor!

There were several I could have chosen, but I went for Kinda. An awesome story, in spite of the dodgy snake at the end.

Earthshock gets my vote. Not many stories on that list I'm too keen on.

I've gone with Kinda, but it was a close one between that and Earthshock

Not the strongest of PD's seasons. Couple of OK stories but Earthshock is the one that gets my vote.

Now and then, every once in a very long while, every day in a million days, when the wind stands fair and The Doctor comes to call, everybody lives.

I've gone with Kinda. Not a lot of choice in there really, though.
