Also, the wind machine they use blows the backdrop of the set, making it really obviously not real

I think the big obvious one here is how pathetic the Daleks are, compared with how scary they become. Sure, they try to explain it away, but there was no good explanation.

The time the Thals had been travelling since they left the plateau varies several times - one year, two years, four years.
The common concept used here that neutron bombs do no structural damage isn't strictly true. They do have blast and heat components, like ordinary nuclear weapons - the point is that they release a lot more radiation than a nuclear bomb of the same yield, so the organic destruction is out of proportion with the physical damage.
On the other hand, this can be forgiven as the idea was brand new then - the first neutron bomb had been tested earlier that year, so Terry Nation was pretty on the ball to get the concept in at all.

The editing is off in the episode with Ian inside the Dalek because the characters switch positions between camera angles.

So, let me get this straight: Electricity powers everything in the Dalek city, right? So, if they cut off the power, how did they get out of the city, considering they'd have to go through now-operative doors, lifts etc?
