This is where it all started. It got a lot less subtle over the years but they were still there. What are your thoughts?

I have to be honest I've never liked them. It's always seemed like with their inclusion JNT sort of missed the point. It sort of highlights the 'Who' part of the title as though it's his name, like he wanted to make him seem more mysterious and confusing or whatever. I dunno, it's hard to put my finger on it but I just don't like them.

He is also vain, ego-centric and quite mad

Almost everyone involved in the creative process seemed to hate the question marks. Tom Baker, Chris Bidmead, Eric Saward, Peter Davison - almost everyone hated them as being too obvious. I am sort of ambivalent about them - I thought it was typical of JNT and that it lacked subtlty. The sad thing is, other than the question mark I thought the new costume was fab!

I'm a bit torn with the question marks. Generally I don't like them. They seem too overt and silly. However, I really like the question mark umbrella handle. Don't know what the difference is but to me that's far more acceptable than plastering them all over the clothes. Perhaps because it can be passed off as a normal handle and so it more subtle?

I liked the Doctor's costume but the question marks weren't a good idea. They were relatively subtle here though in comparison to how they were used later.

I also agree with this!

I'm not a fan. I don't pay much attention to them now that I'm more used to seeing them but on seeing them for the first time and then seeing them get bolder and more obvious over time, I really wasn't keen.

They definitely got out of hand but I think they weren't so bad at this point, even though I didn't like the overall outfit very much.

I also agree that I liked the umbrella.

I don't like them on principle, though I can't say I noticed them that much here.

I can't say I even noticed them in this. In later stories where they are more obvious I have, but they passed me by in this one.

Just to add though, I didn't particularly like them where I have seen them. They feel a bit gimmicky
