One of the things that stood out to me when I first watched this was the stuff with the little comments and asides to the camera. I wasn't keen on it at first but the more I see it, the more it feels like it fits the story and adds to it somewhat.

What are your thoughts on it?

I'm pretty sure that this was down to the actor misreading the cues on the script rather than it actually meant to be there. I'm sure it says that on one of the extras.

Now and then, every once in a very long while, every day in a million days, when the wind stands fair and The Doctor comes to call, everybody lives.

This is probably the part I liked the least. Every time it happened it took me out of the story a little bit. It's not just this though, I don't like it in any story.

But if that's the case then why keep it in? Or why not tell him after the first time he did it? It doesn't particularly bother me that it's there but I don't particularly like it either.

I've never really understood the point of why they were there, or if they were an accident, why they were kept. I'd prefer that they weren't, but their being there doesn't spoil the story in any way.

I liked it. It was odd but it wasn't bad. It sort of suited his character I thought

It didn't bother me.  It's a dramatic convention that people say their thoughts out loud - especially OTT villains Cool

I'd never really questioned it before. Just accepted it as part of the story. I think that Doctor Who has always tried to push boundries and throw in new ideas and ways of doing things and so to me this never felt all that out of the ordinary. It wasn't really even the first time either, though definitely the most frequent.

I think it works. It's not something I would like to see too often because I think it takes you out of the story a bit and makes it seem less real, if that makes sense, but as a one off it was ok.

It works very well in some dramas (see, for example, the wonderful asides by "Francis Urquart" in "The House of Cards") I remember watching it at the time and thinking it seemed a little weird but I've just accepted it as part of the charm of the episode. Besides, Tom Baker regularly made asides to the camera during his time.

I've seen the story enough times that it goes by unnoticed now, but generally I'm not a big fan of it in any show. Except Miranda Tongue
