The Tenth Doctor was the tenth incarnation of the renegade Time Lord known as the Doctor. Unlike his immediate predecessor, who was plagued by melancholy due to his actions during the Last Great Time War, this incarnation was much more outgoing and genial, a demeanour that hid the "survivor's guilt" that had plagued him since the war. Over his life, however, the weight became much more pronounced. He was haunted by companions lost, enemies believed long-dead and events that threatened the fabric of time itself. He met his end after he absorbed a huge quantity of nuclear radiation whilst saving the life of his friend, Wilfred Mott, leading to his regeneration into his next incarnation. Discuss the Tenth Doctor here.

Mostly I didn't like him in this. I understood his actions but it felt a bit rushed to get to that point.

For the bulk of the story he was fine but he got worse as it went on and then that stuff back on Earth was awful.

This was perhaps my least favourite appearance of Ten. I think he was written poorly and not given enough of a chance to get from a-b in his characterisation. It was all too sudden and unlikeable.

The Timelord Victorious stuff was so out of character and ridiculous. Really put a crimp in an otherwise great story.

From beginning to end in this story I found the Doctor annoying. He was acting far above himself for most of it but those last couple of scenes were just sooo annoying. By the time the end of the story came around I was praying for someone to come and knock four times and put an end to him.

One thing I think should be mentioned is how easy it is to mix up Ten and Tennant. I'm the first to admit that at times I think Tennant overacted and got a bit too amdram but in that scene at the end, probably my least favourite scene of all featuring the Tenth Doctor, I thought Tennant played it brilliantly. I don't think we were particularly meant to like the Doctor at this point and I think Tennant made that change from very likeable to very unlikeable and did it really well. I don't think the writing was amazing, but I do think Tennant did a great job with what he was given.

I agree with Peri. For the most part Ten was great but he let himself down at the end. Tennant though put in a great performance.

I can see the point of the Time Lord Victorious stuff. I didn't like it, and I didn't think it was handled very well (far too abrupt) but it was an interesting phase for the Doctor to go through.

The Timelord Victorious stuff would have been a lot more bearable and understandable if it didn't come out of nowhere and got squeezed into the last five minutes of a story. Something like that needs time to develop and grow so that it feels like a natural development and because of the way it was written in it came off poorly
